On this particular morning, we were later than usual in setting out on our morning walk. As we walked out the gate, a lovely sunrise awaited us.
Sunrise at 7:07am
7:17am
~~~~~
In the late afternoon, I harvested some Brazilian spinach and a long green okra from my garden.
I trimmed the spinach leaves before rinsing them with water.
Will be planting these Brazilian spinach stalks in another pot.
Blanched Brazilian spinach and okra, drizzled with garlic oil and sambal dried prawn.
Crunchy fried anchovies.
Leftover herbal chicken soup from the previous day.
Our simple home cooked dinner with steamed rice.
Steamed rice not in the photo.
~~~~~
Back in my garden, I spotted 2 big grasshoppers on my edible plants.
Grasshopper #1
Grasshopper #1 is bigger and deeper colour.
Grasshopper #2 is smaller and the colour more faded.
I wonder if these 2 grasshoppers are a couple, just paying a visit to my garden.
Linking to Saturday's Critters.
God sits above the circle of the earth.
The people below seem like grasshoppers to him!
He spreads out the heavens like a curtain and
makes his tent from them.

Beautiful sunrise and a joy to see the grasshoppers. Very tasty looking meal, you are quite the cook.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mamas.
DeleteHello Nancy,
ReplyDeleteBeautiful sunrise series! The grasshopper is cute, do they eat your plants?
The Brazilian Spinach is new to me, looks yummy. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, have a happy weekend. PS, thank you for leaving me a comment.
Thank you, Eileen. So far I haven't noticed any damage to my plants and the grasshoppers are gone from my garden.
DeleteThose Brazilian spinach leaves are so tender and beautiful. Would be wonderful for a salad too. Beautiful sunrise!
ReplyDeleteSo far I haven't tried using the leaves for salad.
DeleteI usually will have fried anchovies for white porridge. Drizzle some dark soy sauce on the anchovies, yummy to go with porridge and rice.
ReplyDeleteYes, I too like fried anchovies with porridge and rice.
DeleteThe grasshoppers are visiting your garden restaurant. 😊Thank you for being a gracious host. Your dinner looks good especially the chicken soup. I wouldn't be able to see half the plate of your crunchy anchovies without bruising the inner of my mouth. The dried shrimp made the spinach very flavourful, right?
ReplyDeleteI don't mind if the grasshoppers come for a snack and not for a heavy meal. Lol!
Delete
ReplyDeleteThe grasshoppers are also beautiful. Homemade dishes look delicious. Have a good weekend:)
Thank you, Lucyna. Have a good week.
Delete...the grasshoppers are so colorful, but I wouldn't want they in my garden.
ReplyDeleteLol! Only for a short while, maybe just a light snack.
DeleteI hope those grasshoppers don't start eating your plants! If you replant those Brazilian spinach stalks they will grow again?
ReplyDeleteYes, the Brazilian spinach grow easily from the planted stalks.
DeleteThe grasshopper looks cool. Nice sky shots!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Shiju.
DeleteI enjoy anchovies but I've never had crunchy fried anchovies Nancy.
ReplyDeleteSee ya.
Cruisin Paul
We love crunchy fried anchovies.
DeleteBeautiful sunrise! I take it the Brazilian spinach stalks will grow if planted? That is so cool.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Rose. Yes, the stalks when planted will grow very well.
DeleteI have never seen grasshoppers like this! Are they eating your plants? How do you keep insects from eating all your plants?
ReplyDeleteThese grasshoppers are manageable. It is only those pests like mealy bugs that are not easy to keep away from my plants. They can do a lot of damage to my plants.
DeleteIt's so nice to take a morning...or evening walk to notice everything around you! Have a good weekend. Hope that grasshopper doesn't eat any of the good plants! Maybe he likes weeds!
ReplyDeleteI think the grasshoppers like the lime leaves.
DeleteYou do take such beautiful sunrise shots.
ReplyDeleteThank you, William.
DeleteUntil i saw the different kind you grow, i did not know there were so many varieties of spinach.
ReplyDeleteSince I started to grow veggies in my garden, I too have learned that there are so many varieties.
DeleteBeautiful sunrise pic
ReplyDeleteThank you and have a great week.
DeleteThe anchoives looks so good.. I must go buy some and fried them!
ReplyDeleteBetter buy peeled ones. Took me a long time to finished peeling the anchovies.
DeleteOh! Those grasshoppers are big! I haven't seen any in my garden lately.
ReplyDeleteBetter not to see, they might end up chewing on your plants.
Deletehi nancy. i too recently spotted grasshoppers in my garden; they were mating :D. my son was shocked to see how big they were.
ReplyDeleteOh, then the 2 in my garden must be a couple since its mating season.
DeleteI really like the way you cook your greens.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Gigi.
DeleteBeautiful sunrise and a nice home-cooked dinner. Great shots on the big grasshoppers. We used to see many such grasshoppers in one of our previous houses with open vegetation, and they fed on the leaves of our flowering plants.
ReplyDeleteThis time the grasshoppers only stay 2 days in my garden.
DeleteBonito amanecer. Feliz domingo.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Teresa.
DeleteI swear that I can hear grasshoppers chewing. Never seen colorful ones such as yours.
ReplyDeleteGreat skies, good for you getting up so early in the morning to walk. And as always your food looks wonderful.
Thank you, Yogi.
DeleteExcelente y variado reportaje fotografico, saludos y feliz semana.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jesus Alvarez.
DeleteSo many nice phootos
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jo-Anne.
DeleteSomehow I do not really like anchovies :)
ReplyDeleteNot surprising. Hubby only likes anchovies in the crunchy fried form. Both my sons do not like anchovies at all.
DeleteYour simple meals always look top notch. Very good variety too.
