On Thursday we received good news that our friends were blessed with a new additional member to their family, a new born baby grandson. It was initially planned that we will visit the mother and child in hospital on a Friday afternoon. But on Friday, the time was changed to evening. Our friends suggested that after hospital visitation, we will all go for dinner.
After spending some time in the hospital, it was time for dinner. We were brought to Restoran Up & Up. According to our friends, the place will be packed during weekends and public holidays. We noticed that the place started to fill up while we were half way through our dinner. Even though this place has started business for some time, it was a first visit for hubby and I.
This is Fish Head Curry in a clay pot with ladies finger or okra, tomato, etc. This curry is not very spicy, suitable for those who cannot take too spicy food.
And when you look up to the sky and see the sun,
the moon and the stars - all the heavenly array -
do not be enticed into bowing down to them and
worshiping things the LORD your God
has apportioned to all the nations under heaven.
(Deuteronomy 4:19, New International Version-NIV)

DeleteWhat a lovely day...a new born bay and such a feast! Seeing from the decor and dishes, the restaurant looks having Japanese twist. Not too spicy curry (and rice) is one of the most popular dishes in Japan but fish head curry is new to me.
ReplyDeleteYoko
I think you will love this fish head curry because it is not spicy at all.
DeleteI like curry fish head. With unlimited rice serving, I could eat with curry fish head!
ReplyDeleteUp & Up. Funny name for a restaurant.
Just curry fish head and rice is enough.
DeleteCongratulations to the mother and new baby. I hope they are both doing well.
ReplyDeleteThe food look interesting. I love white rice and curries but never tasted curry fish heads. Do you eat the eye???
Hugs,
JB
Hi Julia, I used to eat fish's eyes but now I no longer like eating them.
DeleteHi Nancy, I used to eat small fish eyes when I was a little girl, now I don't think I could eat them. We no longer cook fish heads but mostly filets. JB
DeleteYes Julia, it is the same with me. Ate them when as a young girl but like you, no long fancy them.
DeleteAnother family member, how sweet! Congrats to the family. Curry is so yummy! We love trying different ones, especially pumpkin. Thanks for sharing this fabulous meal.
ReplyDeletePumpkin curry will be delicious.
DeleteOoo..what a yummy dinner. I've never seen cuttlefish cooked this way. I'm inspired to try! ^.^
ReplyDeleteIts a very delicious Hokkien dish.
DeleteThe curry is for me! Because I cannot take too spicy curry. Did you get to see the baby when you went to visit the mother?
ReplyDeleteYes Mun, we did get to see the baby boy and he looks just like his father.
DeleteNancy your food is varied
ReplyDeleteYes, some not spicy for the young children.
DeleteI would love to try the stinky beans! What do you think of following each other, maybe inspire each other? Please let me know! Have a great week, kisses!
