I have this pretty little flowers in my garden and today I am going to post about this plant. The common name of this plant is called Firecracker Flower. Its scientific name is Crossandra Infundibuliformis and it belongs to the family of Acanthaceae.
Firecracker flowers plant is an evergreen shrub which can grow to a few feet tall if grown in suitable soil and environment.
I first brought back some stem cuttings and dried seeds from my sister's garden. I have read that this plant can be propagated by seeds or stem cuttings, so I tried both. This was the stem cuttings and it was propagated successfully.
It was very healthy and growing well. I saw some flower buds and waited for them to bloom before transferring it to a bigger container.
This plant grows well in normal, moist garden soil with good water drainage. It needs daily watering and regular fertilizing for healthy growth.
It grows well under partial to full sun exposure. It can be grown in pots or in flower beds. Regular trimming is encouraged to shape the plant and to encourage more branches to grow to bring about more flowers. It is pest and insect resistant.
Tiny flowers beginning to bloom.
How wonderful to have a pest and insect resistant flower. Right about now I wish cabbages were also pest resistant. I do like the pretty little flower that looks like a fan. I also like how you find a suitable scripture for every post. Blessings. x
ReplyDeleteThank you, Joyful for your kind comments. I planted cabbages once and they were doing well but then the rainy season came and the cabbages rotted. I should have removed the pots away from the rain.
