A Grand Farewell Dim Sum Breakfast Treat In Hong Kong

Hong Kong, Day 5 - Dim Sum Breakfast.

On our last morning in Hong Kong, we didn't expect Pete to turn up. Surprisingly he was at the apartment door right on time. Since it was our last day in Hong Kong, he and his wife insisted on giving us a dim sum breakfast treat.

Our trip to Hong Kong has been very blessed. Right from the moment we set foot on Hong Kong until the time we boarded our flight back to Malaysia, we were very well taken care of, our tour schedule were well planned and we get to taste so many different varieties of delicious Hong Kong food. We just couldn't find the right words to express our gratitude and appreciation to all our Hong Kong friends who have made our trip a very memorable and blessed one.
We were invited to breakfast at the Cheerful Sky Cuisine at Kwun Tung, Kowloon.
Indeed, a very pretty sight as we entered the restaurant.
Many tables were occupied and we were led to a bigger table for 8 people.
We were seated away from the morning crowd.
Our hosts, a loving couple pored over the illustrative menu.
To order, just choose and tick against the items on the order forms.

The following items were ordered by our lady host to be shared by 8 people.
Porridge/Congee - dried vegetable with minced meat.
Steamed rice with braised chicken claw & pork rib with dipping sauce.
Both items, steamed flour rolls (chee cheong fun in Cantonese)
(Left) Steamed flour rolls with Chinese cruller.
(Right) Steamed flour rolls with with bbq meat.
(Left) Steamed pork dumplings with fish roe (siew mai in Cantonese).
(Right) Steamed prawn dumplings (har kow in Cantonese).
(Left) Pan Fried Steamed Taro Cake.
(Right) XO sauce.
Lotus leaf wrapped glutinous rice with savoury filling.
Steamed pork trotter with salted black beans and chili.
 Steamed vegetable dumplings
Another tasty steamed dumplings.
(Left) Steamed deep fried bean curd skin rolls with prawns.
(Right) Deep fried spring rolls (popiah in Cantonese)
(Left) Steamed meat balls. (Right) Steamed fish balls.
(Left) Deep fried flaky radish pastry with filling.
(Right) Deep fried glutinous flour savoury dumplings.
 (Left) BBQ Pork Baked Buns.
(Right) Pan fried thin vegetable pancake.
And finally, delicious delicacy - Baked egg tarts topped with a dollop of bird's nest.
Close up look at the silky smooth baked egg tart with
a generous dollop of bird's nest.

Once again, we thank you, Mr & Mrs Pete, for being such wonderful hosts.
You have been so kind, so loving and so caring!

you are fooling yourself, and your religion is worthless.

  4. I can see where words alone hardly makes it justice to thank those lovely hosts for treating you so well. I'm glad that you had a great visit and have tasted of another culture.
    Thanks for sharing.

PS. I'm wondering what is the so called bird nest on top of the egg tarts?

    1. Hi Julia, the bird nest is actually the gelatinous coating of the edible bird nests of swift. The dried gelatinous is soaked in water, cleaned and double steamed and its very tasty!

    1. When in Hong Kong, you must taste especially the dim sum. So far I think over here the dim sum restaurants have not caught up with the steamed rice yet. You are right, our host ordered most of the items on the menu...hahah...but there are many more items.
