Sekinchan #1 - Paddy Gallery.
We had earlier planned to visit Sekinchan on the first day upon returning from Hong Kong but due to tiredness and lack of sleep, our Semenyih friend suggested to postpone our trip to the following day. That was a good suggestion because we used that day to wash our clothes from our Hong Kong trip and to rejuvenate and recharge our bodies.
On the following morning, we all got up early and after our breakfast, we drove all the way to Sekinchan from Semenyih. There were 9 of us and we went in two cars. We are indeed thankful to my sister-in-law for lending one of her cars to us. This was our first trip to Sekinchan.

Our first stop was at the Rice Processing Factory to visit the Paddy Gallery.

While waiting for the factory workers to return from their lunch break, we had our refreshment in this Pearl Rice Garden cafeteria.
Wall decoration made from padi (rice) husk inside the cafeteria. We tasted the boiled rice and corn congee from the cafeteria.
There's a pond with a water wheel in front of the factory.
Bus loads of visitors came to buy the popular Pearl Rice.
Cute toilet screen for the ladies' toilet. There's another similar one for the male toilet.

Visitor to the gallery need to buy a ticket. The ticket can be exchanged for a small packet of rice as a souvenir.
Time to enter the Paddy Gallery for a brief introduction and a short video about the paddy planting process with mechanized planting method.

From the gallery we can look down through the glass panel to see the workers at work in the factory below.

DeleteI think NTV7 has one of its shooting in Sekinchan rice field some few years ago. It was shown on TV.Love the cute mascots & the pond. That's what we call wet padi rite?. Very interesting post.

ReplyDeleteSurprisingly I enjoyed the trip and it was not boring. Seeing it for ourselves makes a lot of difference. This trip would help the students find Geography more interesting. Geography was one of my favourite subject in school. Hoping to make more local trips.
