Goodbye 2015, Hello 2016!

I woke up late on new year eve morning, 31st December (Thursday). For some reasons, I was not sleepy the whole of the previous night and I drifted in and out of sleep on the bed. I don't know when I fell asleep and when I woke up, it was about 8.30 am.
A good morning greeting from my new petunia bloom.

We thought we will be spending a relaxing and quiet new year eve evening at home.
But hubby came back after lunch to inform that we will be having a simple "pot bless" dinner with some friends in one of our friend's house.

Good news was that I won't be cooking so that I can take a short nap to make up for the lack of sleep.
By 7.30 pm, we were on our way to our friend's house for a "pot bless" dinner.
It was a last minute decision for a simple dinner for 5 people. We were looking forward for a time of warm fellowship to bid 2015 goodbye and welcome in the new year 2016.
This was our contribution to the dinner - bought a ready cooked salted chicken.
Another couple's contribution - 1 whole roasted duck.
Our sweet host's homemade curry pork rib.
Plus a small pot of vegetarian fried vermicelli (beehoon fried with cabbage).
For starter, we drank misai kucing tea (cat whiskers) a herbal drink made from the dried leaves of Orthosiphon Aristatus plants.
After dinner, we sipped red wine and cracked groundnuts.
This was the 1st bottle from our host. Red wine for 4 people, the 5th person enjoyed beer.
This was the 2nd bottle, also from our host, different from the 1st bottle.
Groundnuts and sunflower seeds to go with the red wine and beer.
As we ushered in the new year, we opened this bottle and enjoyed a sweet red grape drink. This too was from our host. Something sweet to start off a new year.

The heartfelt counsel of a friend is as sweet as perfume and incense.
(Proverbs 27:9, NLT)

  6. Doesn't it feel like such a luxury to be able to take an afternoon nap. I love that feeling when I've had a chance to rest in the afternoon.
