Going Sauk In Search Of Food.

Friend B mentioned on last Wednesday night about going to Sauk on Thursday morning. But there was no follow up on whether the plan was on or not. On Thursday morning, as usual I woke up and went for my morning walk. I was watering my plants when I received a call from Friend A that Friend B will be coming to pick me at 9.30 am. I looked at the clock and it was 9.10 am and I hurriedly finished watering my plants and rushed to take my bath. I was all ready by the time Friend B reached my house,
 After picking up Friend A from her house, we were on our way to Sauk, travelling on the highway.
 As we neared the toll plaza near Kuala Kangsar, the traffic was moving very slowly.
 One of the workers informed us that one of the toll booth was not in use and we needed to change to another lane.
The time was almost 11 am.
Queuing at the toll plaza.
 Entrance gate with beautiful arch to welcome visitors to Kampung Baru Sauk. Friend B slowed down the car for me to take this photo.
 So kind of Friend B to take us on a short drive to look around.

 A Chinese school in Sauk.

The eatery "Restoran Baru Lau Kai Ikan Sungai" is just on the right side of the entrance gate.
 Saw this big pumpkin hanging from the vine besides the eatery.
While my friends were going through the menu with the lady boss, I took a short walk. I found the police station a short distance away, on the same main road.
I found another eatery which was recommended by my other friends. The eatery was not opened yet and that will have to wait for another foodie trip.
I saw squirrels in a cage in front of a shop, next to the eatery.
 I returned to where my friends were and saw this cute kitty on a plastic chair.
 I was told by the owner that this kitty couldn't "meow" or make any sound.
 She's so friendly. She posed for me in various positions.

This cat kept me entertained while waiting for the food to be served.
 This is the main road of Sauk.
The other side of the main road.

Linking to Saturday's Critters.

And a main road will go through that once-deserted land;
it will be named "The Holy Highway."
No evil-hearted men may walk upon it.
God will walk there with you;
even the most stupid cannot miss the way.
No lion will lurk along its course,
nor will there be any other dangers;
only the redeemed will travel there.
(Isaiah 35:8-9, TLB)

  19. Hahaha, I think Friend A and Friend B would have fun identifying themselves when reading your post. :) I think I know who Friend A is since she is not the one driving. Is Kampung Baru Sauk well known for a special type of food?

    1. Ha ha Mun, by now most will know who Friend A is. Kampung Baru Sauk is well know for the "Sai Toh Yu" belly and balls, fresh river fish dishes and fresh water prawns. If you do pass by, do drop by and try the food there. Best time will be from 12 pm onward until 8 pm.

  20. What a nice big pumpkin. I wonder when they will harvest it. Why are there squirrels in cages over there? For food?

    1. The pumpkin plant is very fertile and its a joy to see such big pumpkin. I think they will be harvesting it soon from the look of it. I think the owner of the next door shop are rearing those squirrels. They do not belong to the restaurant.

  22. Picture of the squirrel reminds me the squirrels in my garden. Once I saw a squirrel picking a orange from the bottom of my orange tree. I kept eyes on it to watch its activities. It peeled the orange, finished it and jumped away.. That was a very beautiful sight..I tried to capture in the video, but unable to do so ...

  23. I'm envious of how beautiful that pumpkin looks. We tried to grow them on our balcony but as soon as they flowered and were just about to fruit a white film came over them and they died.

    1. The white film must be the pest or bugs. I haven't tried growing pumpkin. Hmmm I will give it a try, growing from pot! Lol!

  26. Never even heard of Sauk before heh. Yeah sometimes there are these trips where you don't know if it's on or not, who is going, what time etc. Annoys the perfectionist in me! At work now I aim to provide ALL necessary info in the right sequence to the right people, hmmpf.
