Celebrating A Birthday With A Hotpot Dinner.

On the first night of our friends' stay in Ipoh, we had a sumptuous dinner at Sun Lee How Fook restaurant which I have posted in yesterday's post. You can check out what we ate here. We were invited by our friends to join in the birthday celebration of their father and it was to be a hotpot dinner. It was a gathering of about 16 people, including the birthday boy.

Preparation of the hot pot ingredients is very easy. A friend contributed the soup. The rest were all bought, mostly from Jaya Grocer. They were all ready to be used. We only need to wash the greens.
(L-R) Types of fresh mushrooms, stuffed tofu, tofu puffs & stuffed beancurd sheet.
(L-R) Stuffed tofu, fish balls, fish cake & meat balls & beancurd sheet.
This was one out of the 4 to 5 types of greens.
 Packets of Udon noodles.
 Saucer shaped fish paste items.
Thinly sliced pork
Thinly sliced beef
Thinly sliced mutton
Pig liver slices
Stuffed tofu, fish balls & bean curd sheets.
Stuffed bean curd sheets & fish cake.
Fresh prawns
 Some beer for beer drinkers.
Something to warm the body on a rainy night.
Cheese Cake as the Birthday Cake.
Once the soup started boiling, Chinese cabbage and fish & meat balls were added.
We had 2 pots cooking on 2 portable gas stoves to feed 16 people.
Do it yourself (D.I.Y) Hot pot or steamboat dinner is a great way to celebrate any function. It allows the people to freely mingle with one another and cook whatever you like to eat and eat at your leisure. It was a wonderful birthday celebration.

So the people went away to eat a festive meal and to send presents;
it was a time of great and joyful celebration because
they could hear and understand God's words.

    1. Hot pot is easy. No fuss over cooking. Once the soup base is boiling, just throw in the raw food to cook and its ready for eating!
