We had a breakfast appointment with a friend on a Saturday morning, 2 weeks ago. Hubby and I picked up this friend just before 9 am and we drove to Ipoh Garden South. There is a lot of choices in Ipoh Garden South and I had no idea where hubby was taking us to. It was only when we reached the place, only then I knew what we were going to eat. Pork noodles at Kedai Mi Cong Yin!
This is my bowl of Pork Noodles @ MYR 8.00
I ordered mee sua (soft wheat noodles) but I forgot to request for meat only without the internal organs. All that were passed over to hubby.
And I ordered something that I like very much.
Water chestnut with egg sweet drink.
Kedai Mi Cong Yin at Lebuh Taman Ipoh,
Taman Ipoh Selatan.
After breakfast, we played tourist guide and took our friend who just came back from oversea to visit the Concubine Lane in Ipoh old town.
We passed by this lane with umbrellas hanging overhead. The colours of the umbrellas have faded. They were not as attractive as when they were new.
Found this toy and miscellaneous stall along Concubine Lane.
I got attracted to these toys made with springs.
People are created by their Creator to be creative!
Spring Robot.
This stall selling fried Chinese chestnuts is no longer using the metal ladle to stir the chest.
They have invented a gadget to stir fry the Chinese chestnuts with black pebbles without human hands.
Old fashioned sliding wooden grille door at one of the shops.
The old shop renovated to look new.
There are a lot of activities going on at this part of town e.g. team building, treasure hunts, etc.
We saw this eye-catching motorbike with lots of small watches/clocks glued to its body.
We didn't see the owner, so we quickly took a few shots and moved on.
Its marvelous how people are never lacking in interesting ideas.

For the Preacher was not only a wise man but a good teacher;
he not only taught what he knew to the people,
but taught them in an interesting manner.
The wise man's words are like goads that spur to action.
They nail down important truths.
Students are wise who master what their teachers tell them.

DeleteThe street with umbrellas looks.amazing
ReplyDeleteAfter being under the sun and rain, the umbrellas have lost their attractive colours.
DeleteWhat a creative, colorful collection, Nancy. The hanging umbrellas, the spring man and the motorbike. The fellow with the bike will sirely know the time! Thanks for sharing your treasure and I hope that there are many more in your life.

Thank you, Diana. Have a lovely day!
DeleteThe Watch Motor Scooter is certainly unique. I wonder if they are all set on the right time.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Tony. I think most of the watches are just for display only.
DeleteThe soup looks good too but I could definitely do without the internal organs as well. Blech...
ReplyDeleteHa ha! Tony, when I was younger I ate them but as I grow older, I no longer eat them. Have a happy day!
DeleteThe umbrellas still look pretty. Concubine Lane - the name intrigues me.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jackie. The street was named because the rich tin miners kept their concubines there.
DeleteFeel like taking con yin tomorrow.... Yummy!!

ReplyDeleteThe pork noodles from Cong Yin is very expensive. There are other nice pork noodles not so expensive. The bike with the watches is still in use. We found it in front of a restaurant.

ReplyDeleteThank you, William. It was indeed!
DeleteI love the Spring Robot! I bet he costs a LOT. YES! One way we are like our creator is that he made us creative like Him. What a very cool motorcycle!! I wonder how the owner got this idea? Time must be very important to him! Though faded, the street of umbrellas is still so pretty!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ginny. I didn't ask the price of the Spring Robot. I think collecting watches is the bike owner's hobby. What a great way to show off his collection!
DeleteAnother lovely post, thank you Nancy. I loved all the photos, the food always and the scenes but I did love the alley with the umbrella's. Happy day to you my friend :)

ReplyDeleteBoth the spring man and motorcycle were great finds for me. They were 2 great items found in one day!
DeleteHope your friend enjoying visiting Old Town. Such a happening place these days! There was once we were there with friends from outstation. Saw this animal shelter putting up doggies for adoption. Some of these doggies had been so badly abused before the shelter rescued them
ReplyDeleteI think I saw the doggies for adoption too but I didn't go near to find out. I only snapped a few photos and moved on. I hope some animal lovers would adopt them and give them a good home.
DeleteI am so going to Concubine lane the next time I go to Ipoh. :)
ReplyDeleteFrying chestnuts used to be such a labourious task. Good invention! I thought those black things were charcoal bits.
Do remember to visit Concubine Lane and the museums too. I love and enjoy eating those fried Chinese chestnuts.
DeleteI love to eat chestnuts. Used to buy a lot when visiting Petaling street during my college days.
