A hanging pot of Purple Shamrock.
One day while watering my plants, I noticed something unusual.
I noticed a leaflet growing together with the flowers on the flower stalk!
Not only on one flower stalk but on other flower stalks as well.
These small leaflets are not the same as the normal leaves.
The normal leaves grow out of the earth from the tubers, but not the leaflets.

DeleteNancy, your purple shamrock plant is so happy and beautiful! I love them too because the leaves look like butterflies... but I lost mine last year because I left them out in the garden and they didn't like the cold:(
ReplyDeleteSo sad about the lost of your plant. The tubers can easily sprout new growth if the condition is back to normal. Hope you got back the plant.
DeleteFell in love with this plant when first time saw it in my ex-nanny's house. I got some from her and grow in my pot. They are lovely; both the leaves and the flowers.

DeleteI think plants will do anything for you!! We have one of these shamrocks outside at the side of our house. A friend gave us a cutting of hers. They are wonderful and hardy. Plus they remind me of Saint Patrick.
