Simple Dinner For 2 Nights.

In the midst of clearing and tidying up my store room, I remembered that I too needed to clear and clean up my refrigerator. I know that there are many things that have expired and still lying in the fridge. So it was last Thursday that I put aside the morning to go through the items in my fridge. True enough, I threw away 2 big plastic bags of dried foodstuffs and sauce which have expired, some in the year 2015! All those foodstuffs gone to waste and some of the sauces bottles were not even opened yet!

When I went through the freezer, I found a packet of sausages which has expired a few days earlier. Since they were all the while in the freezer, I reasoned with myself that they are still edible. So that evening, I used the sausages to cook fried rice.

Thursday's dinner.
I used the sausages, onions, some dried shrimps and 2 eggs to fry rice for hubby and I.
I have just harvested my first and only cauliflower from my garden because I noticed that the leaves have started to droop. The size was just about 1 and a half size of my fist. It was enough for just the two of us. I just stir fried it with garlic and ate it with the fried rice.

Friday's dinner.
After frying the arrow head chips, I was feeling tired with stiff back and aching feet. So we decided to buy back or "ta-pau" some sweet sour noodle (assam laksa) from the night makan.
We used stainless steel tiffin carrier to take away or "ta-pau" the assam laksa home for dinner.
And we added 4 pieces of Crispy Deep Fried Bean Curd.

After this appetizing dinner, I took my bath, laid flat on the bed with both feet raised up. Sighhhhh, what a relief to my stiff back and aching feet after the few hours of standing at the hot stove and oil, frying the arrow head crisps.

Should not shepherds take care of the flock? You eat the curds,
clothe yourselves with the wool and slaughter the choice animals,
but you do not take care of the flock.
(Ezekiel 34:3, New International Version-NIV)

  5. Hope you're better now after a good rest. Don't overdo it and tax yourself too much. I'm very much guilty of hoarding things in the refrigerator and larder too. Bad habit!!!

  25. After all these years, I still find it a bit hard to cook for just two -- you end up with too many leftovers. At times it is easy to understand why many retired couples choose to go out for almost all meals.

    1. Hi Sallie, it is true for me too. Not easy to cook for 2 and I find it easier to go out for most of our meals. At least we get to eat what each of us want to eat and not worry about the fuss of cooking and washing.
