I have previously posted about this plant named Bleeding Hearts or Nyonya Makan Sireh (in Malay) growing in my garden. If you are interested, you can click here to read about it.
After I have posted the first time, I cut to shorten the plant for more branches to grow.
It is still in the same small pot and the plant has not grown much.
In my previous post, I only showed the flowers without showing the seeds.
I took some photos of the seeds when they appear and I decided to post an update on it.
After the red flowers have dropped, these tiny green seeds can be seen.
It took some time for the seeds to turn brown.
Some of the seeds have turned brown and have dropped off. So far I have not sighted any new sprouts from the seeds on the ground near the plant.
I have collected some seeds. Sorry for the poor quality of the photo of the seeds.
Here is my periwinkle plant. It was growing at the edge of this pot. It grew big and it bent over the edge. Since it was flowering non stop, I just left it be.

That's why those who are still under the control of their old sinful selves,
bent on following their old evil desires, can never please God.

They are beautiful and fancy! We have what are called Bleeding Hearts here, but they seem to be a different plant, they do not look like these.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ginny. Comparing the types of Bleeding Hearts, these look like white bleeding hearts. Have a beautiful day!
DeleteVery pretty! Reminds me of a kalanchoe.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Linda. Yes, kalanchoe is very pretty too! Have a wonderful day!
DeleteOh I didn't know there were seeds in the bleeding hearts flower. But can they germinate? My plant has died after ailing for a while so I can't test it out now.
ReplyDeleteThe periwinkle is pretty and yeah, how to cut if it's flowering non-stop right? Haha.
Thank you, Stacy. So far none of the seeds that have fallen to the ground has germinated. I think it is easy to grow from cuttings. Yes, no heart to cut the periwinkle plant. Have a lovely day!
Deletethe flowers in your garden are so pretty. do you give the plants special fertilizers for them to flower?

DeleteVery pretty plants, i would guess they'd take over the garden if allowed.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mimi. Surprisingly, none of the seeds self-germinated. I think it is easier to grow from cuttings.
