Lunch & Accommodation In Cameron Highlands

After the 2nd stop, our next stop was at the Tringkap Restaurant, Cameron Highlands. We had better fill up our tummy first before we go looking for a place to stay.
We thought we were early but there were others who were earlier than us.
We ordered this signature dish, our all time favourite - deep fried crispy Tilapia fish.
We were quite disappointed with this fish because it was not as crispy as usual. The fish slices were not of uniform thickness. The thicker ones were not as crispy as the thinner slices and lacking in flavouring.
Crispy deep fried abalone mushrooms. Must remember to order the steam version on our next trip. Lol!
Half Chicken - plain steamed and garlic oil poured over the chicken.
Cameron Highland short beans - stir fried.
Sambal belacan Dragon beard veggie.
Total cost of lunch for 6 people including rice, drink & 6% GST
RM 126.00 (approx. 29.47 USD)
There were Cameron Highland homegrown corns for sale in front of the restaurant. We bought some corns and I saw these black tomatoes (for the first time) among the red ones.

After lunch, we started our "hotel tour", going round looking for a suitable place to stay. We stopped at The Square and checked out the apartment at the Nova Highlands Resort and Residence.
Found this on the wall at the car park
Decoration on the ground floor.
After that, we move on to check out more places.
Checking out the room rates at the Copthorne Hotel.
Then we went to the Strawberry Park.
Next was the Smurf Inn Homestay.
The lift was not working and taking the steps is not suitable for the retirees. Lots of green passion fruits in front of the homestay.
Smurf playground besides the Smurf Inn Homestay.
Time to move on to check out other places.
I think altogether we checked out about 9 places before we finally decided on one. So rightfully, our first day in Cameron Highlands was more of a "Hotels Tour".  Some places are nice and the off-peak rates are quite reasonable. The choice will depends on individual preferences.

Linking To Skywatch Friday.

[She] Awake, north wind, and come, south wind!
Blow on my garden, that its fragrance may spread everywhere.
Let my beloved come into his garden and taste its choice fruits.

    1. I didn't try the black tomato but I got a fruit and I hope to germinate seeds soon. Everything was quiet at the Smurf place as it was a weekday. Might be different during weekends and school holidays.

  10. It's good that you can visit during off-peak season. Less crowd, lower prices.
For me, unfortunately, it will always be peak season when I travel, be it locally or overseas.

  18. Lovely dishes and very pretty scenes. I was interested in the black tomotoes alongside the red. I have been noticing different colored veggies in our local supermarket. There was a sweet pepper that was multi colored like this. It is all very interesting to me. Thank you for sharing Nancy :)
