At one of our gathering with ex-colleague, an ex-colleagues recommended a restaurant to us. The location of the restaurant is about 10 to 11 km from my place. We seldom pass by that way so the restaurant was more or less pushed to the back of my mind until recently.
Last week together with 2 friends, we had an appointment to meet someone whose shop is further away from the restaurant. Since we had to pass by the restaurant and the appointment is just before dinner time, it was a good opportunity to try out the food at Restoran Hooray Seafood. We ordered the following dishes for 4 people.

This is a sweet sourish dish, very appetizing @ MYR 20.
Deep fried marinated pork slices served with a mixture of onion slices, bird's eye chili, lime juice and sugar. It was a cool evening and after eating this, we felt like we haven't eaten yet.
Steamed black Tilapia topped with spicy assam sauce and stinking beans @ MYR 27.
Sambal belacan (prawn paste) stir fried sweet potato leaves @ MYR 8
Total cost of dinner inclusive of rice and drink = MYR 62.
Some of the menu posted on the wall.
Decorations inside the restaurant.
Found this old ice shaver and a farmer's straw hat inside the restaurant.
Front view of the ice shaver.
Found these in another restaurant while we were having breakfast. The antique coffee grinder and ice shaver were mounted high up on a pillar, so I have to zoom in to take this picture.

DeleteThe sweet sour pork sounds like a great appetizer.
ReplyDeleteNot many people use such ice shaver to make ice kacang. Still can see it around though but mostly use much modern shaver now.
The electric powered ice shavers have replaced these manual ones.
