One Wednesday morning of last month, hubby and I, together with 2 other friends drove to Ipoh Garden East looking for Restoran Poh Poh Place. This place was recommended to me by a friend who stays in Bercham.
Restoran Poh Poh Place - Tel: 016-5013639.
Laluan Perajurit 1, Taman Ipoh Timur.
Off day - Thursday.
It was only 8.40 am but the tables both inside the restaurant and outside were all taken. We waited for a while to get a table on the 5 foot way outside the restaurant.
The lady in red does all the cooking.
Before you can order, first go get a number and a menu will be given to you by one of the helper behind the lady in red. Just wait at your table. When your turn comes, someone will come to take your order. There were 4 of us and we each ordered different noodle to try.
Hubby ordered this Mixed Pork Offal soup noodle.
Friend A ordered another version of Pork Offal soup noodle.
Yuet Por Fun/Noodle
I couldn't decide between Tom Yam noodle or this Yuet Por noodle.
Finally Yuet Por noodle won and I am glad I ordered this.
Yuet Por Fun
This traditional egg and ginger omelette with meat and offal is cooked with fragrant sesame oil and rice wine is usually eaten by local Chinese women during the one month post-natal period. I really enjoyed this bowl of drunken soup noodle. I almost got drunk eating and finishing off all the soup so rich with rice wine.
Friend B ordered Fish Head Soup Noodle.
This was the last to be served and when it was brought to our table, it was "Wow! Such a big bowl!" There is so much treasure inside this bowl that Friend B needed Friend A to help him out.
While waiting for friend A & B to enjoy that big bowl of noodle, I snapped pictures of these pretty bowls. Not all eateries use ceramic bowls and plates these days.
After breakfast, we walked down the shops to take a look.
We came upon this glutinous rice dumplings and kueh shop.
All the other dumplings were sold out except for the healthy Millet Dumplings. Instead of glutinous rice, the dumplings are made of millet. I bought one to try.
I steamed the dumpling and we ate it for lunch.
It tasted like the normal glutinous dumpling except there was no glutinous rice.

DeleteI love their pretty bowls, and the red chopsticks! Did you know why so many restaurants have the color red? It is supposed to stimulate your appetite and make you more hungry. They almost never use blue, which is too restful.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ginny. Chinese always like red and red coloured chopsticks very common. Blue is not common.
DeleteThat house has some very nice palm trees.
ReplyDeleteThe dumpling looks good to me.

ReplyDeleteAll the bowls look good indeed. But the long wait would be a turn-off.
To avoid long wait, avoid going on weekends.
