We started the first day of December with a foodie adventure with friends. This adventure was not planned, it just happened. We started off with breakfast at Pusat Makanan Ye Sing, Taman Bandaraya, Ipoh (the shop furthest from Paragon City Hotel).
Lunch at Restoran Sin Hong Kee at 1.10 pm
(opposite Restoran Chef Fatt Hong Kong Dim Sum)
Our friends wanted to try the "tong sui" (sweet drink) and sweet desserts.
Fried noodles, yam cake and Nyonya kueh.
Savoury or sweet - ham chim peng or agar agar.
Glutinous rice and ondeh-ondeh.
Curry puffs, egg tarts and steamed kueh.
These were our orders for 4 people.
Ondeh-ondeh - Glutinous balls with palm sugar filling, coated with coconut grating.
Savoury glutinous with Chinese sausage, dried shrimps, etc.
Sweet Nyonya kueh
Deep fried savoury prawn fritters.
Savoury yam cake
Fa Sang Woo - Creamy Peanut Sweet Soup
Not overly sweet, just nice for our taste buds.
Black glutinous rice sweet soup with coconut milk.
Not overly sweet, just nice for our taste buds.
Menu on the wall.
We had a dinner date with the same friends.
Drove to Bercham and reach the restaurant at 6.30 pm.
We ordered sweet potato leaves stir fry with sambal belacan @ MYR 12.
Steamed lala @ MYR 19.
Deep fried pig's trotter @ MYR 53.
A great disappointment because the sauce was too salty.
Old cucumber soup @ MYR 6.
This is the only dish that deserved a "like".
Total dinner including rice and drink - MYR 94.80
I won't be mentioning the restaurant.
We needed something delicious to neutralize the salty aftertaste from our taste buds. So we ended up at this tau foo fah stall in Bercham.
Ordered 4 bowls.
Ahh! This silky smooth tau foo fa tastes so good on our taste buds
Feeling satisfied, we drove home.
What happiness there is for you who are now hungry,
for you are going to be satisfied!
What happiness there is for you who weep,
for the time will come when you shall laugh with joy!
(Luke 6:21, The Living Bible-TLB)
