Once we passed through the jetty gate, there were many van drivers offering their tour services to passengers. Hubby managed to rent a van with a nice, accommodating driver to take us to town. We knew we didn't have much time for sight seeing, so we just spend some time in town to get some duty free imported chocolates and snapshots. We were also curious to see the changes in Langkawi.
Langkawi has changed so much since our last visit about 30 years ago.
Sculpture and buildings.
2 hugging trees
Government building with white fence.
The district and land office.
Langkawi Fair Mall - just passing by.

We were taken to a another mall to shop for duty free chocolates & snacks.
After that, we stopped at the Langkawi, Kuah Jetty.
Almost 6 pm when we reached Dataran Lang (Lang or Eagle Square).
The iconic Langkawi Eagle
We had some time for taking snapshots.
On the right, some event preparation was going on.
Side view of the eagle sculpture.
This man with the python around his neck was trying to get visitors to take photos with his snake but people were getting out of his way when they saw the huge snake.
6 pm - reflection
A cool pose by the sporting grandpa!
A very popular Langkawi icon - a key tourist attraction.
12 m tall eagle sculpture - completed in 1996
6.12 pm - setting sun
Langkawi coastline
Walking out to the car park where the van was waiting for us.
Jetty point
Don't know when we will visit Langkawi again.

Dear brothers, you are only visitors here.
Since your real home is in heaven,
I beg you to keep away from the evil pleasures of this world;
they are not for you, for they fight against your very souls.

DeleteThe last time I were in Langkawi was more than 10 years ago. I remember the Langkawi Fair Mall. I remember walking around there as my lodging was some where there. I think I didn't buy anything there but went to another place for duty-free chocolate and cigarettes.
ReplyDeleteWe didn't visit Langkawi Fair Mall. The driver took us to another place and it could be the same that you visited.
DeleteA whirlwind visit around Langkawi but good enough since manage to buy duty free items.
