Dinner At Kedai Makan Hook Sang, Johor Bahru.

I haven't been posting regularly because I was on a "working" holiday in Johor Bahru. I am now back home and this is my first Johor Bahru post. We had breakfast and our drive to Johor Bahru started at about 10 am.
Thank God the weather was fine throughout our journey. My friend drove the first part of the journey and I took over the wheels for the later part of the journey. At one part of the journey the traffic came to a standstill and it took some time before the way was cleared again.
We reached Johor Bahru at about 5.30 pm, just nice for an early dinner at Kedai Makan Hook Sang.
This is the popular "Smack Noodle" or stewed pork fried mee hoon.
It looks like rice vermicelli with egg omelette topped with stewed pork slices.
This is my first time eating "smack noodle"
 Sambal belacan kangkong (water spinach).
Red wine with pork chop, very tasty, flavourful sticky pork rib.
This was our first dinner for 2 people in Johor Bahru.

Oh, how grateful and thankful I am to the Lord because he is so good.
I will sing praise to the name of the Lord who is above all lords.

  5. Sounds like you took a long journey and had a good spicy dinner. Lovely capture on the little flowers and my uncle to have similar flowers in red/orange in his woodhouse and nice to know it’s called Japanese roses!

    1. The journey took us more than 6 hours due to the delay and a stop at one of the R&R to stretch our legs.

  16. Those Japanese roses are gorgeous! I've never seen any like them. In Hawaii we saw something called a wood rose. I wonder if they are related. Loved the ice shaver too. And your food photos made me so hungry! :-)

  21. The trip looks interesting and good you had someone to share the driving. It must be good to east in the open air with only a cover over the tables. Delicious food. The Japanese rose is unusual. wishing you a good weekend.

  23. "Smack noodle" is an interesting name! It's something like fried beehoon with canned stewed pork?
