Chicken And BBQ Pork Rice At Hawker CHAN, Ipoh.

When we heard that the famous Michelin Star Chicken Rice in Singapore will be in Ipoh, we were all looking forward to get a taste of the famous chicken rice. The Ipoh-born chef has decided to bring his famous chicken rice to Ipoh. We waited for reviews from those who have visited and tasted the food. There were mixed reviews and so we decided to go and taste the food for ourselves.

It was a Wednesday and there was no home cooking in my kitchen. As we will be attending Ash Wednesday in church that evening, we decided to visit Hawker Chan for dinner at 26, Jalan Theatre, Ipoh.

The customers have to queue up at the counter to order their food. Then they were given a number. When their food is ready, the number will be called out for customers to collect their food.

Seating space are limited and customers have to wait to get seats during peak hours. Instead of waiting for seats, some customers prefer to take away their food and eat in the comfort of their home.

We reached the plate at about 6:40 pm. We found a place for two persons next to another couple. I sat at the table while hubby ordered the food.

Signature soy sauce chicken rice @ RM 6.80

BBQ pork rice @ RM 6.80 and 2 Chinese tea @ RM 0.80 each.

I would say that this Singapore chicken rice has its own unique taste in the sweet soy sauce. Hubby and I still prefer the taste of our local chicken rice, maybe because we are not used to the sweet soy sauce on the white rice. I quite like the taste of the bbq pork which is also on the sweet side.

After dinner at Hawker Chan, it was too early to go to church. We went to get some dessert at the Ipoh Dessert Street (Tong Sui Kai) at Jalan Ekram, Ipoh.

Hubby ordered Ice Kacang aka ABC sweet dessert.

I ordered something warm to soothe my itchy throat and slight cough.

This dessert is called Leng Chee Kang or Lotus Seeds Sweet Dessert.

We got into the car and off we went to church to attend the Ash Wednesday service.
