My Limau Purut Or Kaffir Lime Is Fruiting Again

I have this lime plant with me for many years. This is the Limau Purut or Kaffir Lime and it is grown in pot in my garden.
The leaves of limau purut has a strong aromatic flavour. The leaves are usually used in cooking Tom Yum and Rendang dishes.
Looks like these grasshoppers like this plant too.
Good thing they didn't do much damage to the plant.
 Young leaves.
For cooking, we do not use the young leaves.
 Flower buds
 Pretty flowers
 Tiny fruit.

 Young fruits.
The juice of the fruit could be used in cooking.
The juice is also used to remove the fish smell before cooking.
The juice is also used to add flavour to grilled fish or meat.
The limes and juice can be added to dish washing liquid or shampoo too.
Fruits of Limau Purut drenched with rain water.
Talking about rain, it seems the monsoon season has ended and the weather is getting warmer as the Chinese New Year approaches.

Linking to Saturday's Critters.

I reach out for you.
I thirst for you as parched land thirst for rain.

  3. The flavour of lime enhances a dish so much and adds zest to it. We use limes frequently. The price here is getting ridiculous though.

  12. It just looks like such a rich green...I would enjoy having it. A broccoli soup I make requires a squirt of lime juice...it is the best soup I ever had.

My plant has never fruited I think. But I rarely use the leaves also since the smell is strong.
