I have this lime plant with me for many years. This is the Limau Purut or Kaffir Lime and it is grown in pot in my garden.
The leaves of limau purut has a strong aromatic flavour. The leaves are usually used in cooking Tom Yum and Rendang dishes.
Looks like these grasshoppers like this plant too.
Good thing they didn't do much damage to the plant.

For cooking, we do not use the young leaves.

The juice of the fruit could be used in cooking.
The juice is also used to remove the fish smell before cooking.
The juice is also used to add flavour to grilled fish or meat.
The limes and juice can be added to dish washing liquid or shampoo too.

Talking about rain, it seems the monsoon season has ended and the weather is getting warmer as the Chinese New Year approaches.

DeleteThe flavour of lime enhances a dish so much and adds zest to it. We use limes frequently. The price here is getting ridiculous though.

I only use the leaves for a few dishes and that is not often.
