3 Spicy Meals: Nasi Lemak, Nasi Kunyit & Sambal Petai

Our friend voice messaged us on Whatsapp the previous evening that she wanted to pass something to us. Early yesterday morning, 48th day MCO, we drove out to her stall. Below are some sunrise shots that I took before we drove to her stall.
Sunrise at 7:11 am.
Can you see the sun rays?
7:18 am.
Birds flying overhead.
7:18 am
7:19 am
Kledang Hill (on the west side).
Dainty orchid flowers from my garden.
~~~~~
Free breakfast and fruit from our friend.
A packet of nasi lemak and 1 big guava fruit.
Our friend gave us the above nasi lemak with prawn sambal.
Hubby's breakfast because he likes the prawn sambal.
I wanted to try this nasi lemak from another shop @ RM 3.80.
Healthy snack (papaya) for 2 people before lunch.
I bought the above nasi kunyit (turmeric glutinous rice) with chicken curry from the nasi lemak stall and kept it for lunch.
Chicken potato curry.
Turmeric glutinous rice (nasi kunyit).
Late lunch for 2 people.
After lunch, we drove to Aeon Big Falim. We haven't been there since MCO implemented. There was no queue and not very crowded on a Monday afternoon.
I found something to contribute to Tuesday's Treasures
I found this at the shopping mall.
Afternoon sky at 2 pm on the way back from Aeon Big Falim.
I bought a mouse from DIY to replace the faulty mouse and some fresh prawns from the supermarket.
Dinner
Chinese cabbage cooked with carrot and garlic.
Spicy sambal stinky beans (petai) with minced pork and onion.
Dinner for 2 people.
I finished off all the veggie and kept a third of the sambal petai in the fridge.
Evening sky at 7:16 pm.
Evening sky at 7:26 pm. Can you see the moon?
Setting sun from behind Kledang Hill at 7:16 pm.
Setting sun at 17:27 pm.
Sweet and cruncky dessert (jackfruit or nangka).
As far as God is concerned there is a sweet,
wholesome fragrance in our lives.
It is the fragrance of Christ within us,
an aroma to both the saved and unsaved all around us.
  3. Oh, is that the moon in the photo? Thought that it is the sun. Wow, your dinner today is da best! With that sambal petai can eat many bowls of rice but your cabbage cooked with carrot and garlic will help the rice to balance the heavy taste of the sambal petai. So nice of your friend. Did she cook the nasi lemak with prawn sambal? Was the prawn sambal spicy? I love to eat nasi kunyit. Can't remember when I ate that. Wah, so nice no queue. The queues are super long for the supermarkets in malls here so I don't dare to go to the mall yet.
    1. The prawn nasi lemak has to be specially ordered ahead by my friend. To avoid crowd and queue, I choose the time when there will be less people.
    2. How do you know what time there will be less people?
    3. I usually go between 11 am to 2 pm, so far it seems the best time with less crowd. I usually choose weekdays.
  11. Sambal prawn is really my favourite esp when petai is added together! Yummeh!!
    So far I always ate lousy Nasi Kunyit here. The sellers don't know how to cook the rice correctly.
    I started looking at our skies here in the morning but no luck. It doesn't look nice like yours. Maybe I should wake up at 5am tomorrow.
    1. I like the nasi kunyit and the chicken curry from this stall. 5am is too early, will be very dark and nothing to see. I usually go out to check around 6.40 am or later to check a few times. Sometimes I get to see beautiful sunrise, sometimes nothing much to see.
  13. Interesting how you cut your papaya. I usually cut the papaya in half and scoop up the fruit with a spoon.
    1. Thank you, Gigi. It depends on my mood. Sometimes I will cut the papaya in half and eat it with a spoon. Sometimes I will cut in big pieces and sometimes in small pieces.
  21. Such good food!
    My hubby likes petai and I saw someone selling. But decided against getting it or the whole house will smell of petai and we have no escape. Hahaha.
    1. You can easily counter the smell by cooking a brinjal dish. Eating the brinjal seems to neutralize the smell of the petai. It works for us.
