After we have finished a few rounds of morning walk, we went to one of our regular coffee shops for breakfast. Most mornings, hubby and I will share a bowl of noodles but that morning, I wanted to eat loh pan mee which hubby doesn't like. So, we each ended up ordering and eating something which we enjoy eating.
Our unsweetened black coffee.
Hubby ordered fried noodle.
I ordered a bowl of Loh Pan Mee with thick gravy, with black vinegar added.
Later in the morning, I made herbal jelly (gui ling gao).
This herbal jelly is soothing for dry throat.
I had leftover rice in the fridge.
I cooked fried rice with onions, dried prawns, and egg for lunch.
A friend dropped by to visit us and gave us this mango from their garden.
Another friend gave us the above steamed buns.
We had steamed buns for dinner and supper.
This dragonfly paid us a visit.
I tried to guide it out of the house but it was flying all over the places.
It finally landed on the handle of my first-aid box. I slowly reached out to it with a fly swatter and it cling on to it. Then I brought it to the window and out it flew away.
Saw this baby grasshopper on my hibiscus.
It had been feeding and pooing on my hibiscus.
Grasshoppers like to feed on the petals of my hibiscus.

DeleteYour Loh Pan Mee looks really great and I want some gui lin gao :-)
ReplyDeleteWish I could send some to you. Lol!
DeleteThe food looks GOOD! So what do you do about the baby grasshoppers? Leave them be, or try to get rid of them?
ReplyDeleteSince I only saw 2 baby grasshoppers, I just let them be. They can't do much damage to my plants.
DeleteIt has gotten too cold at night for us to have any dragonflies...I have never got to have one in my house. I love to watch them. Grasshoppers not so much.
ReplyDeleteYes, I prefer dragonflies to grasshoppers.
DeleteGood to know you guided the dragon fly out of your house. You can recognize grasshopper's poo? I can't.
ReplyDeleteI can also recognize caterpillars poo.
DeleteI prefer the fried Mee over loh Mee. Gui ling gao is tasty and cooling. Nice to make your own. I like mango. So nice of your friends to give you all fruit and baos. What are the fillings in the baos?
ReplyDelete2 tai baos and the other 2 was savoury meat filling.
DeleteFried rice looks nice.
ReplyDeleteHaven't seen a grasshopper for years..now I've said that might see one.
Thank you, Margaret. Hope you get to see one soon.
DeleteFried rice is so convenient and tasty to make.
ReplyDeleteYes, whenever I am lazy, I will think of fried rice.

DeleteIsn't it nice when you find leftovers in the refrigerator and can make another meal with them.
ReplyDeleteThat grasshopper probably thought he was is bug heaven on your hibiscus.
Thank you, Mimi.
DeleteI don't usually like loh mee. But recently had the ulu yam version with added black vinegar and enjoyed eating that.
ReplyDeleteDid you make the gui ling gao from scratch?
Once in a while I will crave for loh mee. I buy the gui ling gao powder to make the jelly.
DeleteFeliz semana Nancy.
