I was feeling lazy on this particular Sunday and I wasn't in the mood to cook. So we ended up having dinner with our friends at Kafe Best Hillview.
We were early, reaching at about 6pm and most of the stalls were getting ready for business.
Chinese rojak - small portion for 4 people to share.
We wanted to order different varieties to share.
Oyster omelette (or chien in Hokkien)
Bbq stingray fish (ikan panggang) with spicy sauce.
Prawn noodle (Hokkien mee).
For the purpose of sharing, we asked for an empty bowl.
Fried noodle Mamak style (mee goreng).
Sorry for the blur photo.
Evening sky at 7:12pm.
Once we finished our dinner, we left for home.
I sowed cauliflower seeds but this looks like Chinese kai lan from the look of the beautiful waxy leaves.

Few days later, we went to Gourmet Square at Ipoh Garden for dinner with our friends.
We ordered bbq stingray fish.
Our friend ordered 2 pieces of spring rolls (popiah).
1 piece fried and 1 piece non fried.
In fact, we ordered a few more varieties but I forgot to snap photos.
This was the Ipoh Cathay cinema in the old days.
The cinema ceased operation and is now turned into a business centre.
This photo was taken in the year 2015.
The bright and striking red colour on the building is very eye catching.
If I try to hide in the darkness,
the night becomes light around me.
For even darkness cannot hide from God;
to you the night shines as bright as day.
Darkness and light are both alike to you.
(Psalm 139:11-12, The Living Bible-TLB)

DeleteSome of theaters here in Oregon are no longer open. Regal cinemas for sure. A few smaller ones are open though. Stingray meat...woe. Glad you like it. Lots of good looking food to eat. I made pizza for lunch last Sunday as i didn't feel up going to church that day. I was going to make Sat but came back too late from getting groceries. We sandwiches for dinner that evening.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Grandma Beckyl. I love pizza and I wouldn't mind having sandwiches for dinner but hubby not a fan of pizzas or bread.
DeleteWow I totally love this kind of food. I see a very plump oyster in that oh-chien and the stingray from both places look fabulous.
ReplyDeleteBoth the stingray is good but the better one is at Gourmet Square in Ipoh Garden.
DeleteI love bbq stingray and or chien, for the or chien I only eat the eggs not the oysters. I love to see old buildings like this cathay cinema, so nostalgic.
ReplyDeleteThese 2 are also my favourites. I like to eat the oysters wrapped with omelette.
