The 6 of us decided to drive to Taman Boon Bak for dinner at Kopitiam Mun Soon. The last time we had dinner here was about 4 months ago. Good thing we were ahead of the dinner crowd to be able to get a table for 6 people. We ordered the following dishes.
Signature pork rib
Roast pork with Chinese leek.
Yau Mak choy (in Cantonese) sauteed with fermented tofu (fu yee).
Steamed 3 eggs (chicken egg, century egg & salted egg).
Signature spicy sauce steamed Tilapia fish.
Total cost of dinner including rice and plain water = RM89.80
Pretty wild flowers by the roadside.
These are considered as weeds.
Sugar candy at Concubine Lane, Ipoh.
These snapshots were taken in November, 2015.
The seller has to use a small hammer and chisel to break the sugar candy.
As a kid we used to love this candy.
A young family at the sugar candy stall.
As far as I know, this could be the only sugar candy stall in Ipoh.
The person who has been born into God's family does not make
a practice of sinning because now God's life is in him;
so he can't keep on sinning, for this new life has been born
into him and controls him - he has been born again.
(1 John 3:9, The Living Bible-TLB)

Thank you, Mica. Enjoy your week.
DeleteWhen I was in primary school, the sugar candy bicycle would be outside our school gate. We call it ting ting ting. He would also sell those sticky thick soft syrup molasses golden colour twirled around a stick. Have you eaten the soft sticky syrup molasses sweet twirled around a stick candy?
ReplyDeleteThe soft sticky syrup molasses on a stick was not available to me where I was staying.

ReplyDeleteIs the maltose candy I mentioned in the earlier comment.
Love your dinner. Very good price for so many dishes. The flowers are pretty and they look like daisy. Do you know what flowers they are?
I haven't checked the name of the flowers but they can be found on the roadsides or in the fields.
DeleteWhat a terrific supper you had! The ribs especially made my mouth water. As does the the Steamed 3 Eggs. And the maltose candy looks terrific! Thanks for sharing and we hope you have a marvellously happy day!

ReplyDeleteThank you, Teresa.
DeleteAlways a good thing to be early for dinner.
ReplyDeleteThese 'ting ting tang' sellers in KL too. I never tried before as a kid and don't intend to try now in case I develop a sugar addiction!
As adult we won't find this sugar candy interesting.
