We were not the only early risers. These early birds were outside their owner's house by the roadside searching for food.
They have to be early to catch the worms. This rooster is very protective over his hen, making sure I do not go any nearer.
~~~~~
I have a frozen fish head in the freezer and half a pineapple in the fridge. One way of using both is to cook curry.
Home cooked fish head and pineapple curry.
I also added okra and tomato to the curry.
Blanched home grown chives, drizzled with garlic oil, oyster and soy sauce.
I divided the fish head curry into 3 portions. 1 gave 1 portion to my neighbour, 2nd portion for dinner and kept the 3rd portion for next day's dinner.
Bougainvillea by the roadside.
Can someone help me to describe the above colour?
~~~~~
Next day's dinner.
I warmed up the last portion of fish head and pineapple curry.
Steamed minced pork with preserved veggie (tung choy). It looks dry because I didn't add any water to the minced pork before steaming.
Sweet potato leaves with garlic, dried prawns, chilies and shrimp paste (belacan).
Another satisfying home cooked dinner. I love pineapple in curries.
In this act we see what real love is: it is not our love for God
but his love for us when he sent his Son to satisfy
God's anger against our sins.
(I John 4:10, The Living Bible-TLB)
That is why Christ said as he came into the world,
"O God, the blood of bulls and goats cannot satisfy you,
so you have made ready this body of mine
for me to lay as a sacrifice upon your altar.
(Hebrews 10:5, The Living Bible-TLB)
Both your home cooked meals look wonderful. I am salivating just thinking of the fish head and pineapple curry! That rooster is so colorful and I have seen one like that walk past my house. LOL!
ReplyDeleteI am also salivating thinking of the fish head and pineapple curry. I love curry with pineapple in it.
DeleteVery satisfying dishes there, Nancy!!
ReplyDeleteOne of these days I will cook it again adding more pineapple to it.
Deletethey look yummy. thanks for the post .99j
ReplyDeleteThank you and have a great day.
DeleteThis website describes the colour as:
ReplyDeleteHer unique bracts open as deep orange, then turn to coral, and finally mature into a salmon-pink.

Search for yellow bougainvillea
Thank you, Mun for the link.
DeleteOther websites describe it as warm golden yellow. Do u plan to plant this yellow bougainvillea?
ReplyDeleteI think I like the "warm golden yellow" description. No, I don't intend to plant any more bougainvillea plants.
DeleteLove the pineapple in the curry as well but not the fish head. Fish head is difficult to eat cos need to dig for the meat. Does your husband like to eat fish head?
ReplyDeleteYes, fish head is not for everybody. Hubby doesn't like fish head so I ended up eating the fish head.
DeleteI mean does he find it easy or difficult to eat the meat on fish heads since he doesn't like to pick the meat off the bones of the fish.
ReplyDeleteI will give him the meaty parts and I will take the other parts. Usually most men have no patience digging for meat off the bones.
DeleteI have never added pineapple to a curry. Time to give it a try!
ReplyDeleteYou will love it if you like the sweet sourish taste of the pineapple.
DeleteThanks for your sharing ...
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome and happy weekend.
DeleteThe fish head pineapple curry sounds and looks very tasty!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Angie.
Delete...ah, chickens and roosters, it looks like I'm back in Maui.

ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous day, Nancy. ♥
Thank you, Sandee. Have a fabulous weekend.
DeleteWe see chickens (and rabbits) on the walk everyday. 2 of the neighbors on the walk I take with the dog have coops. There is a new rooster in one coop who take offence when the dog goes by! That Bougainvillea is gorgeous and I too could not describe the color. As always, your meal is amazing! We hope you have a marvellously happy day!
ReplyDeleteThank you and have a happy weekend.
