Roti Telur, Steamed Sweet Potatoes & Fried Tom Yam Beehoon

We were up early and were ready to start our morning walk but the clock showed that it was not yet 7am.

Morning sky at 6:48am.
I used the time to sweep the dry leaves and flowers from my porch area.
After sweeping, I did some warming up exercise until 7am before we set out for our morning walk. We walked until 8am. That is the time when the eateries are allowed to start their business. Hubby stopped at one shop to order roti telur.
Simple breakfast for 2 retirees.
Roti telur (Indian flatbread with egg) with curry gravy and black coffee.
Toast with peanut jam and apricot jam and black coffee for me.
I wanted to finish the last 2 pieces of bread.
Red and purple bougainvillea from the same plant in a big pot from my garden.
We had steamed sweet potatoes for lunch.

Dinner
I fried tom yam noodle for dinner because I suddenly had a craving for it.
When the noodle was ready, I packed some for my neighbour. I had informed her earlier not to prepare dinner.
I have all the ingredients at hand: Ready made tom yam paste, pre-soaked rice vermicelli, carrot strips, pre-soaked dried shrimps, cut bird's eye chilies, cut onions, and thinly cut omelette strips as toppings and garnished with chopped spring onions. I alone can finish 2 big plates.
A pair of antique oil paper umbrellas displayed at a museum in Gopeng.
These oil paper umbrellas are used to provide shade from the sun and rain.

The LORD himself watches over you!
The LORD stands beside you as your protective shade.
The sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon at night.
The LORD keeps you from all harm and watches over your life.
The LORD keeps watch over you as you come and go,
both now and forever.
(Psalm 121:5-8, New Living Translation-NLT)

  3. Tom yam bee hoon sure is very tasty! I was just talking about these old umbrellas yesterday after watching Kenshin movie on Netflix yesterday night. I wonder whether we can still buy it from some shops. Do you know any shops that may still sell these old types of umbrella? I

  9. That Indian flatbread for breakfast looks interesting. We had something similar in Malaysia, and the fellow made it while we waited. It was delicious.

    1. Thank you, David. We Malaysians love to eat Indian flatbreads for breakfast and sometimes for dinner. They make it fresh for you.
