There are a few routes that we can take for our morning walk. One is the route to the nearby Chinese School and another is to the nearby food court. And if we want to buy breakfast, we will use the route to the nearby shops.
At 7:38am, this place was unusually quiet because under the FMCO lockdown, eateries were only allowed to operate from 8am to 8pm for take away only.
Later, there was a change and eateries are now allowed to operate from 6am to 10pm for take away only.

In this post, I will not share what we had for breakfast because there is nothing new. Instead, I will share what we had for 2 dinners.
Dinner #1 - Thursday evening.
I boiled 5 treasures rice porridge again. The room mate of our neighbour missed tasting the porridge I cooked earlier when she went back to her hometown to visit her parents. So, this time, I cooked porridge for 4 people.
Blanched home grown Brazilian spinach, drizzled with garlic oil, oyster and soy sauce.
Ingredients in the rice porridge (the 5 treasures): roast pork bones, minced pork, salted egg, century egg and char choy (pickled Sichuan vegetable).

Dinner #2 - Friday evening.
Received a big Pak Soh Koong (White Whisker's Cat Fish) from our neighbour.
Steamed Pak Soh Koong (White Whisker's Cat Fish)
Ingredients used: lots of ginger strips, red and green bird's eye chilies, oyster and soy sauce and Chinese cooking wine.
Blanched baby "choy sum" and drizzled with garlic oil, oyster and soy sauce.
Delightful dinner for 2 people.
Multi layer petals yellow hibiscus from my garden.
A replica of an old fashioned well and washing area, and a bathroom/toilet. This was at Qing Xin Ling Leisure & Cultural Village in 2015.
And we said, 'If they ever say this to us, or to our descendants,
we will answer: Look at the replica of the LORD'S altar,
which our ancestors built, not for burnt offerings and sacrifices,
but as a witness between us and you.'
(Joshua 22:28, New International Version-NIV)
This Hibiscus of yours is my favorite so far!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ginny.
DeleteOh, that is a replica only? It looks exactly like the toilet in my childhood home when I was just 4 years old! it was a bucket toilet where someone will collect waste every day. Thank goodness the toilets are modern flushing toilet now. Replica means not a working toilet, right?
ReplyDeleteYes, it is only a replica. It looks like something from my childhood days too when we were staying in the village.
DeleteYour 5 grains rice congee sounds so flavourful! Do u use a pre pack 5 grains rice brand or u chose the 5 grains individually yourself?
ReplyDeleteI am sorry, Mun. I didn't use 5 grains rice. I used brown rice mixed with basmati rice. The 5 treasures are the ingredients I put in the porridge.
DeleteOh, sorry. I misunderstood. Now I understand. Thanks for pointing it out.
DeleteYou are welcome, Mun.
DeleteThe yellow multi petal hibiscus looks so beautiful! Can press this flower to immortalise it. Do u used to press flowers for decorations or bookmarks?
ReplyDeleteI didn't press these flowers. I only pressed the leaves called "Mother of thousand babies" or Kalanchoe plants when I was schooling in between my text books.
DeleteThe road is straight where you have shown in your photos.
ReplyDeleteCould eat those meals, not so sure about the porridge would certainly try it. Don't eat porridge here at home.
The hibiscus is gorgeous, it looks large.
Thank you, Margaret. It is a large hibiscus.
DeleteI am not a fan of porridge but I would gladly eat your porridge due to the yummy ingredients inside. Wah! I will also enjoy the steamed pak soh koong and your simple but delicious vegetables.
ReplyDeleteThank you, PH. I prefer home cooked porridge because I will put in lots of ingredients.
DeleteYour yellow hibiscus is so pretty. Mine died a long time ago :(
ReplyDeleteI was afraid the plant get infested so I propagated cuttings just in case the mother plant died.
Deleteit has been some time since i had pak soh koong. The replica toilet looks so real, people would have thought that is a public toilet!
ReplyDeleteYes, I took a closer look and it all look so real except that the toilet is clean. Lol!
DeleteThe hibiscus is my favorite photo.
ReplyDeleteThe food looks delicious.
Greetings Irma
Thank you, Irma.
DeleteThe hibiscus in your garden looks very beautiful. I love cat fish.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Angie.
DeleteUsed to eat steamed Pak soh koong with my in laws in dai Chao years ago. Tasty the way you steam it. Guess you ate the bulk of it but then, u didn't cook another meat dish for your husband?
ReplyDeleteHubby is ok with fresh fish as long as it doesn't has a strong fishy smell.
DeleteThank you for sharing at https://image-in-ing.blogspot.com/2021/07/a-favorite-place-to-visit.html
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sue for hosting.
Delete...plumbing sure has changed over the years. A quaint sight, but I wouldn't want to go back to those days. Thanks Nancy for joining the party.

DeleteI like the photos from your walk and of course the meals look great. I'm glad we don't have to use restrooms like the one in the last photo these days!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Martha. I am glad we need not have to use those restrooms anymore.
DeleteHere the restaurants are getting back to allowing patio service at the moment.
ReplyDeleteHopefully, the restaurants will be allowed to have dine-in for 2 at a table.
DeleteGorgeous hibiscus and the food is extraordinary! Have a lovely day.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Kathe. Have a lovely day too.
DeleteOh the hibiscus is lovely. I would love to have one that would rebloom again and again. I lost two in harsh winters.XSO pretty. I always come to the blogs where food is displayed so I can have lunch afterwards. Thank you.

DeleteMy house has never been within walking distance of shops - growing up, my first condo and then the house my hubby bought. Only now with my condo do I have this luxury. Always wanted that. :)
ReplyDeleteThe pak sou gong dish looks very presentable, can serve in a nice restaurant.
We only walk to the shops when we are on our walking rounds and in the morning when it is nice and cool. If not, we will drive to the shops.
DeleteVery healthy dinner you had on both Thursday and Friday.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Libby.
