When I woke up, I heard raindrops on the awning roof. I waited until just before 7am before I went out to check if it was still drizzling. No more drizzling, so it was clear for our morning walk.
Morning sky at 7:58am.

Breakfast
Chinese crullers, garlic bread and pork noodle for breakfast.
Chinese crullers at RM1.10 per piece.
Garlic bread at RM2.
Pork noodle
Fragrant Gardenia bloom from my garden.
Rice noodle (loh shu fun) on the left and wat tan hor on the right.
This was our lunch before we went out to town.
Ipoh padang (field) at old town.
The biggest flag and tallest flag pole in town.
~~~~~
Dinner.
Fried minced pork plus fish paste patties.
Sweet Thai chili sauce.
The evening was warm and we didn't want any rice.
So, this was our dinner, nothing else.
While I was watering my garden, I spotted this grasshopper.
A close up of the grasshopper.
First time a grasshopper feeding on my okra (ladies finger) leaf.
Normally, grasshoppers leave the okra leaves alone.
Since it didn't do much damage, I left it alone. I gave it a little shower with my garden hose and it hopped onto the long beans vine.
Linking to Saturday's Critters.
We can make a large horse turn around and
go wherever we want by means of a small bit in his mouth.
And a tiny rudder makes a huge ship turn wherever
the pilot wants it to go, even though the winds are strong.
So also the tongue is a small thing,
but what enormous damage it can do.
A great forest can be set on fire by one tiny spark.
(James 3:3-5, The Living Bible-TLB)
...I am seeing grasshoppers and the damage that they do in my garden too. Enjoy your weekend Nancy.
ReplyDeleteSo far I have seen about 3 grasshoppers in my small garden. Have a good week.
DeleteEekkkkk!!! Grasshoppers! I often see those huge all green ones in my garden. I just let them be. My garden is an all-you-can-eat buffet...and boy, they can finish off all the leaves so fast!!!
ReplyDeleteI've got my eyes on the wat tan hor. Haven't had that for a long time now. We can dine in here now but no, I'm not going out. Stay safe, stay well, stay home.
So far these grasshoppers are not really damaging my plants. It is the caterpillars that can bald my periwinkles plants just overnight. Stay home and stay safe.
DeleteThat sounds like a wonderful combination.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Monica.
DeleteThe minced pork with fish paste must be very delicious and flavourful. The cruller looks very small. I used to enjoy them with soya milk.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Angie. I usually dip the cruller in hot black coffee without milk. Never tried with soya milk.
DeleteI like the ching ching pork noodles. I spotted Kap chung and ham Chim peang. Is that ham Chim peang with red bean inside? I prefer wat tan hor than the noodles dish next to it. Minced pork and fish patties sound good to munch on, no need rice at all. You are so nice to the grasshopper, thank you! ❤️
ReplyDeleteYes, the ham chim peang has red bean inside.
DeleteHello Nancy,
ReplyDeletePretty views of the skies and flag poles. Your meal looks delicious, I would love the sweet Thai chili sauce. It is sad the grasshoppers do so much damage, they are kind of cute. Great photos. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, have a happy weekend. PS, thank you for leaving me a comment.
Thank you, Eileen. Have a wonderful new week.
DeleteI hope that grasshopper doesn't stick around and start munching on everything!
ReplyDeleteSo far I have seen any serious damage to my plants.
DeleteI have never seen a grasshopper here. Hope it doesn't do too much damage. Great looking dinner.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mamas.
DeleteHi Nancy! Every time I come here I can only concentrate on the food lol...the breakfast looks delicious! So do the patties! Grasshoppers...don't see to many here, but they are definitely around. I went to put my hand into my clothespin bucket yesterday and nearly squished one! He was hanging out there!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Rain. As long as the grasshoppers leave my plants alone, I will let them be. If not, then it is war! Lol!
DeleteGracias por compartir tanto ese bonito paseo por tu ciudad, como esos alimentos de tu vida cotidiana, que aunque para mi sean desconocidos, no por ello son menos apetitosos. Esos fideos de arroz y esos fideos con cerdo tienen una pinta riquÃsima.
ReplyDeleteUn fuerte abrazo, y volveré por aquÃ, ya que me ha gustado mucho tu blog.
DeleteDo you have any recipes with crab that you recommend? It's crab season here, and we have a TON of crab to process! - http://www.domesticgeekgirl.com
ReplyDeleteOhhhh! I love crabs. We love to steam, grill or bake the crabs when they are fresh. Sometimes we cook sweet sour crabs. Here is one example of the many recipes for cooking sweet sour crabs: https://www.facebook.com/cookingahpa/videos/829580800863264/
DeleteMinced meat patties are my all time favourite. Yours must be so delicious, some more with fish paste.
ReplyDeleteI am having my afternoon coffee now. Later will be going to crystal jade palace with my friend for dinner.
DeleteThe pork and fish you both had for dinner looks good.
ReplyDeleteGardenia, well I haven't seen one of those for years Nancy.
Thank you, Margaret.
DeleteIf I can find fish paste, I would love to make pork fish paste patties. I have had such a grasshopper visit my garden before.
ReplyDeleteWe have 2 types of fish paste here. I found one that I like.
DeleteFeliz domingo.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Teresa.
DeleteCool morning sky! Great shots on the grasshopper, and this looks like the same species that used to eat our hibiscus leaves once.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jeevan. Yes, I think this specie prefers hibiscus leaves.
Ate late lunch as we had to wait 20 minutes to get a table at Denny's restaurant Sunday afternoon. We've not had rain in over a month. Good scripture verses you shared. Have a good week!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Grandma Beckyl. Our weather is also very hot. Have a good week too.
DeleteI am so lazy to cook these days... maybe after the jab, so tired...
ReplyDeletePlus the weather is very warm. I am lazy too.
ReplyDeleteI love to combine the two to make patties.
DeleteThank you, Teresa.
