Have been raining the last few days. Gloomy sky most of the days.
Morning sky at 7:15am
On the reverse side, clear view of Kledang Hill.
Can you see the communication towers on the hill?
From here, we crossed the road to the right to where the shops are to buy breakfast.
2 pieces of tapioca cake (left)
Steamed cake or "angku" kuih.
Green is with grated coconut filling, red is with red bean paste and the yellow is with bean paste.
Next, we walked over to another shop.
To buy 4 pieces of my favourite yam bean (sengkuang) fritters.
~~~~~
Our neighbour bought lunch for us.
And 1 set of Chili Pan mee served with Amaranth spinach soup.
Dry version pan mee served with fragrant spicy chili.
Noodle and gravy were placed separately.
Pour the loh mee gravy over the noodle.
Dark rice vinegar was added to the noodle.
Both the noodle portions were big.
~~~~~
Spicy and Sour Mustard Green (kai choy).
I cooked spicy and sour mustard green with 1 roast pork leg for dinner.
After a heavy lunch, we didn't want any rice and just enjoy the appetizing dish by itself.
A set of Chinese Calligraphy Writing And Painting Tools at the Gopeng Museum.
Do not let any part of your bodies become tools of wickedness,
to be used for sinning; but give yourselves completely
to God - every part of you - for you are back from death
and you want to be tools in the hands of God,
to be used for his good purposes.
(Romans 6:13, The Living Bible-TLB)
Never had spinach soup. Raining today.
ReplyDeleteSpinach can be cooked in many ways.
DeleteI only go for angku with mung bean paste, not fond of the others. Tapioca cake looks good.
ReplyDeleteDry version of pan mee? Never seen that here before, not that there are a lot of places selling pan mee in Sibu - I guess it's another thing that is not Fuzhou so not so readily and widely available.
We don't get to choose the angku, all are packed in 3s. Anyway, its my first time buying from angku from this stall. Pan mee is easily available in Ipoh.
DeleteYour grey skies are like ours just now. The selection of food is great, you always have such a variety! Have a great day, Vaerie
ReplyDeleteThank you, Valerie. Have a great day too.
DeleteWhen it comes to angku kueh, I still prefer the one with mung bean.
ReplyDeleteMe too, but they were pre-packed with one of each.
DeleteMy favorite would be the Kai choy with roast pork leg, because it is spicy and sour, I can eat a lot of rice with it
ReplyDeleteGood that you are using tiffin carriers to dabao your food.
Thank you, Libby. kai choy is my favourite too.
DeleteWell done, lovely set of photos. Sorry I am not keeping up with blogs and comments just so much going on. Lots to do in the garden and I have not had time to process photos that I have taken, I am getting backlogged!!
ReplyDeleteHope all is well, take care, Diane
Thank you, Diane. Just take your time, no rush.
DeleteLove those angku kuih! And the pork leg looks very appetizing too.

Deletewow so cute angku....i like them so much...but in my country i call them kweku...
ReplyDeleteI learn something new today....I will remember to refer them as kweku.
DeleteNice photos ❤
ReplyDeleteThank you, Kinga.
Delete...calligraphy writing and cursive have become a dying art here. The computer seems to be the killer. Thanks Nancy for sharing, enjoy your day.
ReplyDeleteSo true. Thank you, Tom. Have a wonderful day.
DeleteYes, I can just see the communication towers on the hill, so short, compared to the hill so the hill must be super high. The view from the hill must be superb if it is high. Have u seen the view from up on the hill?
ReplyDeleteI didn't reach the waterfall, just up to the little garden before the waterfall. I can see the whole of Ipoh from up there.
DeleteYour neighbour is so nice to buy the dry chili pan Mee n lor Mee for your lunch. Usually do they ask for your permission before they buy or it is always a surprise?
ReplyDeleteThey will inform me that they have ordered noodles for us. If we had eaten lunch, then we can keep the noodle for dinner.
DeleteYour spicy sour mustard leaves dish looks so appetising. I have yet to learn to eat this dish on its own. Usually will eat with rice, noodles or bread. I guess you still have remaining for another day or did you cook a small portion just enough for dinner for 2 pax?
ReplyDeleteI usually cooked a big portion. Enough for 2 meals and to give some to neighbour.
DeleteVeo con envidia la lluvia, por la gran sequía que tenemos aquí en el sur.
ReplyDeleteQue tengas una buena semana.
Besos
Thank you and have a great day.
DeleteI liked the colors of those goodies Nancy.

DeleteThe variety of foods and colors, somehow contrasts with the more or less uniform color of the sky - various shades of grey.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Duta.
