Beef Burger & Stewed Duck With Lotus Root

This was last Friday. We have a mixture of clear sky, white clouds and dark clouds.

Morning sky at 7:35am.
After morning walk, we drove out to buy breakfast. Further down our street, we saw a roadside stall in front of a house. We stopped to check what they are selling and we ended up buying the following:
Economy fried beehoon with a fried chicken drumstick for hubby.
2 curry puffs for me.
I didn't want any noodle because I want to enjoy my toast with marmalade jam.
Simple breakfast for 2 people.
For lunch, hubby went out to buy beef burger.
We each had one, no sharing.
Lots of vegetables (RM4.50)
Long time haven't eaten burger, don't know how to take the first bite. Lol!
In the end, have to use a plate. With a fork and knife, I cut the burger into halves.
After that, cut into smaller pieces, easier for me to eat without getting messy.
In future, I must tell hubby to add cheese for me.
Received this box of mooncakes from my neighbour.
This they bought from another friend.
Plus a box of these soft biscuits or mooncakes without filling.
Inside the red box were these 2 assorted nuts mooncakes.
These were freshly baked.
These will taste a bit dry when they are fresh.
They will soften after a few days.

Home cooked dinner
Stewed duck with lotus root.
This dish is known as "puppy duck" (kow chai ngap in Cantonese). The original recipe is without the lotus root. Adding the lotus root is my version. I learned to cook this dish many years ago from my sister's domestic helper.
Blanched Romaine lettuce, drizzled with garlic oil, oyster and soy sauce.
Yummy-licious dinner.
Evening sky at 7:11pm.

Every morning tell him,
"Thank you for your kindness,"
and every evening rejoice in all his faithfulness.
(Psalm 92:2, The Living Bible-TLB)

  2. Yum yum!!! The RM2 economy fried beehoon! If we have anything that cheap here, I would not bother to cook anything for my breakfast in the morning, just go out and buy! Soft biscuits or mooncakes without filling, that would not be so sweet, I guess. I would go for those!

    1. This year most of the mooncakes I buy or received were less sweeter than most commercial ones.

  3. Hola, Nancy.

  13. I like egg with my burgers. Used to patronise a burger stall regularly when that was on my route home. They added fried onions for the 'burger spesial' which to me was the best thing ahhhh.
