On one morning last week, I harvested the following from my garden.
A cucumber and a tomato.
4 small white bitter gourds.
The last batch of long beans from the dwarf long bean plants. I have pulled up the aging plants to free the pot for some other plants.
Home grown from my garden.
Can you see the spots on the small tomato? When I cut the tomato, there will tiny worms inside the tomato. I hope that by wrapping the remaining tomatoes with recycled plastic bags will save the tomatoes from worms.
My neighbour gave us 2 big buns (tai bao) which I re-steamed to heat up for our lunch.
Inside the steamed big bun.
Update on the arrowhead shoots.
Sad to say that the arrowheads have turned yellow and it was a failed project.

I added 2 white bitter gourds to the remaining portion of stewed duck.
1 dish dinner with steamed brown for hubby and I.
I forgot where I saw this cat. It was sunbathing on the tar road and not disturbed by my presence.

How I envy you (though the bible says we cannot envy LOL!) for all your homegrown bounty! Eeee.. so geli that there are worms in the tomato but can't be helped since homegrown veggies are pesticide free. I think the arrowroot project failed because they are mot suited to grow in water. But they do look very lovely before turning yellow. Ah! I like that cat! Such pretty design on its coat.
ReplyDeleteNow I have to really check for worms. Don't want to be munching on the worms. Lol! I agree with you on the cat's coat.
DeleteOoooo...I used to enjoy those big paos at Bukit Bintang in KL so much in the mid-80's. They upgraded the place and got rid of all the nice coffee shops and stalls - dunno where they disappeared to so I never had any ever again. Never had any so nice since!
ReplyDeleteSince the pandemic started, many of our favourite stalls have closed and disappeared.
DeleteYour home grown veggies look good, sorry about those nasty worms! tHE FOOD LOOKS GREAT, I would lve to try those big buns. Have a great weekend, hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteThank you, Valerie.

Thank you, Marianela. Have a nice new week.
DeleteHello Nancy, :=) I didn't know that tomatoes could get worms inside them. Good healthy meals with your home grown vegetables. You found a nice cat to share.
ReplyDeleteHave a good weekend.:=)
Oh yes, and they are wriggling worms. Eeeek! Have a good new week.
DeleteI've never cooked white bitter gourds, It is interesting to see these in your post. I'll check in the market. It is nice to see these arrowhead shoots are growing. Lovely cat and delicious food too...
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
Thank you, Amila. Over here, white bitter gourds are not common. My arrowhead project failed and I have to discard them. Have a great new week.
DeleteNice cat.
ReplyDeleteOh got worms one inside the tomato? That's why organic vegs cost so much more hor, it's so hard not to use chemicals for mass production.
That is why chemicals and pesticides is so important to the farmers.
DeleteMuito bonito o gato.
ReplyDeleteUm abraço e bom fim-de-semana.

ReplyDeletebest… mae at maefood.blogspot.com
Thank you, Mae.
Delete...and the arrowheads seemed to doing so well!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Tom. Too bad they didn't last and have all turned yellow.
DeleteLong beans are my favorite home grown vegetables. I would hate getting worms in my tomatoes! Last season many friends got them. I was lucky not to.
ReplyDeleteThe meal looks nice!
Thank you, Villrose. I hope after wrapping the tomatoes, there won't be any more worms in them.
DeleteSo nice to harvest own crops. Really satisfying.
ReplyDeleteYummy big Pau. But need share as I definitely can't finish by myself.
Lol! I ate the whole big pau. It looks big but the filling was not as compact as in the old days.
DeleteThat's a good haul from your garden.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Shiju.
DeleteWhat a nice harvest from your garden! Delicious food too. Of course I love the sweet kitty. Have a nice weekend Nancy. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Martha. Have a nice new week.
DeleteThe steamed buns look delicious. Sad you have worms in some of your tomatoes. Adorable cat you saw. One was by my neighbor's garage the other day sleeping in the sun. Good scripture you shared. Have a blessed day!..Becky
ReplyDeleteThank you, Beckyl. Have a blessed week.
DeleteYour Home Grown Vegetables are the results of your diligence and green fingers and blessings from the Lord. 👍 Tai Pau looks very tasty! I wonder what sort of worms are in that tomato. Lucky you checked it before eating. Fingers crossed that wrapping the tomatoes will prevent worms from being in them. When is the harvest for those wrapped tomatoes?
ReplyDeleteDon't know what worms but can see them wriggling away. Will have to wait till the tomatoes are no longer green.
DeleteI really love those bitter gourds! The steamed bun looks awesome.
ReplyDeleteSome great looking veggies there.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Revrunner.
DeleteWhat a beautiful cat and the plant by the window looks good. Love seeing those big buns and the yummy food!
ReplyDeleteThank you and have a wonderful new week.
DeleteSuch a cute cat.
ReplyDeleteThe cat is gorgeous! Wonder why your project did not grow right? You are an expert gardener.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ginny. I think the project failed is because the plants won't do well in water. Most probably have to grow them in soil.
DeleteThe arrowheads might not be good to eat, but they look pretty in the water bowl.
ReplyDeleteEvery creature likes tomatoes, or so it seems.
Thank you, Mimi. I forgot that the worms need to eat too. Lol!
DeleteGenial cosecha y bello gato. Te mando un beso.
ReplyDeleteBitter Gourd sound interesting.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on and stay safe
Thank you, Dora.
Deletearrowhead looks pretty as a house plant. Your food always looks so interesting :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Betty. Disappointed that the arrowhead couldn't make it into the list of house plant. The project failed.
DeleteWonderful veggies (apart from the spots), but, ohhhh! That bun looks like an alien, LOL!
ReplyDeleteSorry about the arrowhead shoots.
Cute cat!
Thank you, Iris. Lol! It did look like an alien spaceship.
DeleteHomegrown is healthy. The vegetables, except that tomato, appear to be clean and fresh enough to consume raw.
ReplyDeleteThe fresh cucumber will be eaten raw or as juice.
