Even though we may use the same route everyday for our morning walk, there is always something new that attracts our attention. It could be a beautiful sunrise, a barking dog, birds flying over us or a beautiful flower by the roadside just like this cockscomb flower.
I saw this cockscomb flower in front of a house we passed by. I had to stop to take this snapshot. The cockscomb flower has the appearance of a brain.
The above was my breakfast on this particular morning. Croissant with luncheon meat and fried egg. I had this with a cup of unsweetened coffee.

From my garden.
These are my white bitter gourd plants growing in a pot.
Lately, I don't know why some of the white bitter gourds seem to be rotting at the tail end. Could it be due to the excessive water from the rainy season.
Good thing the bitter gourd was not spoilt. I only have to cut off and discard the end part. The rest of the gourd was still good and fresh.

Simple home cooked dinner.
I have home made glutinous rice wine and wheat noodle (mee sua). I also have chicken legs in the freezer. I wanted to cook something that is delicious and good for a rainy day.
Glutinous rice wine chicken soup with noodle. I had the mee sua while hubby had instant noodle because he doesn't like mee sua.
Ingredients used: chicken legs (without skin), glutinous rice wine, ginger slices, red dates and gojiberries for the soup and noodle.
A replica of an old fashioned wood fire cooking stove in one of the museum I visited. We had a stove that looked something like this in the village house when I was a kid.
"Then I, the King, shall say to those at my right,
'Come, blessed of my Father, into the Kingdom
prepared for you from the founding of the world.
For I was hungry and you fed me;
I was thirsty and you gave me water;
I was a stranger and you invited me into your homes;
naked and you clothed me; sick and in prison, and you visited me.'
(Matthew 25:34-36, The Living Bible-TLB)
Your chicken noodle soup looks wonderful!!
ReplyDeleteThe color of the Cockscomb flower is outstanding. Yes, it does have the shape of a brain LOL! Oh, luncheon meat and fried egg sandwich - I would love that!
ReplyDeleteThank you, PH.
DeleteI've been thinking of going to buy some croissants but I have not got down to it yet. In fact, I have not been anywhere much - daily cases still high...but worse in Kuching, 3-figure!
ReplyDeleteYes, so many cases all over the places.
Deletenice to have chicken soup noodles on a rainy day!
ReplyDeleteI think I will be cooking this soup more often.
DeleteRight, it looks like a pink brain, funny!
ReplyDeleteHmmmm... croissant.
Noodles. I eat them since Saturday, I think I need a break. Glad I can put the stove on with a click.
So glad that we don't have to use the wood fire store these days.
DeleteHello Nancy, :=) Chicken soup is something I make when I have a tummy upset. It is given to small children for that reason too. I love it, and can eat it for several days. I don't use the other ingredients, but ginger is also good for indigestion. Yours looks delicious. I also enjoy eating croissants, they taste so good. I'm glad your Gourd was all right to eat. The colourful flower is unusual, it does look like a brain,and it's not one I have seen before.
ReplyDeleteThank you and have a beautiful day.
DeleteThe mee shua with chicken and wine sounds and looks really nutritious!
ReplyDeleteI know Thong Kee coffee shop in PJ sells croissant Sandwich with the luncheon meat and egg like yours but not any other coffee shops. Is this commonly found in most coffee shops in Ipoh? Love your Yellow Wine Chicken, I would eat it with Mee sua rather than instant noodles. I like the flower in a ball shape although the petals will still look like brain. Actually I don't know how brain looks like cos I don't cook pork brain and I have never seen a real human brain. *** Shudders ***
ReplyDeleteThe croissant sandwich is not commonly found in other coffee shops. I have seen pictures and diagrams of brain so more or less I know how it looks like.
DeleteI love the vibrant color of the cockscomb.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Carol.
