On this particular morning, hubby had to go to the bank and I was waiting outside the bank for him. The weather is nice and cool so I decided to take some snapshots.
This is the Mercantile Bank Building.
There is a "For Sale/Rent" sign pasted on the wall.
This building is in the list of Heritage buildings.
The Mercantile Bank of India, London and China opened its branch in Ipoh in 1928. In 1931 it built a four story building at Station Road with art deco features decorated with flagpoles, swags and frames. The building was designed by an architect named Berthel Michael Iversen from a Shanghai company, Messrs Keys & Dowdeswell in Singapore and built by Messrs Brossard & Mopin. In 1959, the Mercantile Bank was taken over by Hongkong & Shanghai Banking Corporation.
Later in the day, there was a black package addressed to me delivered to my house. It was a surprise because I didn't order anything or expecting anything.
It is the Keluarga Malaysia covid kit for those under PeKa B40. There are 4 covid self test kit, 1 thermometer, 1 oximeter and 4 washable masks.

Dinner date with friends.
Once in a while, we get to meet with my ex-colleague and friend and her hubby over breakfast or dinner.
We ordered steamed black Tilapia with flavourful savoury sauce.
Baby French beans with minced pork and salted radish.
Deep fried chicken with pickled ginger cubes.

A dear friend sent me the following photo.
Photo credited to Maguerita.
The above is a Tamarind flower.
This is my first time seeing this beautiful flower. A Tamarind tree can grow to a height of 40 to 60 feet so it is impossible to grow in a small garden.
He has given us both his promise and his oath,
two things we can completely count on,
for it is impossible for God to tell a live.
Now all those who flee to him to save them can take
new courage when they hear such assurances from God;
now they can know without doubt that
he will give them the salvation he has promised them.
(Hebrews 6:18, The Living Bible-TLB)
So you got this covid kit from the government? This is very cool!
ReplyDeleteYes, Ginny. Have a lovely day.
DeleteThis Mercantile Bank's building is very prominent and majestic looking. I had no idea where this bank originated until you shared its history.
ReplyDeleteFree test kits? My friends said elections is coming soon! LOL
Thank you, TM. The free test kits come in useful these days. Hopefully not when the number of cases are still so high.
DeleteThe bank is a beautiful building and the flower is pretty of the Tamarind tree.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Margaret.
Deletecovid test kits are supplied by our government but about to be phased out. I was glad of mine last week as all three of us caught covid and we will test until we know we are clear so my oldest son can visit safely. The bank is a beautiful place and I have never seen a tamarind flower, it's wonderful.
ReplyDeleteMany are getting covid these days and many with symptoms go undetected. Thank you, Betty.
Deletelike your post. thanks for sharing

ReplyDeleteThank you, Aleksandra.
DeleteAn impressive, beautiful building!
ReplyDeleteNow that is some surprise you got there. Here they want to make masks not mandatory anymore and who knows what else...
Your food looks great and such a beautiful flower!
Thank you, Iris. Here, many restrictions have been relaxed but mask is still needed when in crowded places.
DeleteOoooo....that is one very impressive building. I love these old colonial structures, so classy. We do not have any here left - the stupid town developers got rid of all of them and replaced them with some hideous modern structures.
ReplyDeleteWahhhh!!! So good!!! I did not get anything. I'm not under the B40 group so I guess I do not qualify.
All the dishes you had looked so so nice! So nice to go out with friends! We have not done that yet - just us in the family once in a very long while.
Thank you, STP. We have been dining out but we choose places that are not crowded.
DeleteThis bank building is impressive. And, I am surprised to see these tamarind flowers. So beautiful. Although I use tamarind for cooking, have never seen its flowers. Its great to receive such a surprise gift, specially a covid kit that is useful these days.

ReplyDeleteThank you, Rain. The free kits will come in handy when we need it.
