Since we started to dine out after the second lockdown, we haven't been to Restoran Mun Ji, at Taman Rasi Jaya for our favourite fish curry. So, when my friend ask me where to go for dinner, I suggested this place.
Fish curry with assorted vegetables and tofu puffs.
Then hubby suggested the above dish - jiggling Braised Pork Belly or Dong Po Yoke.
These fried buns or mantou comes together with the braised pork belly.
Then we ordered blanched green amaranth topped with 3 types of egg sauce (normal chicken egg, salted egg and century egg).

These days we are having lots of rain. I don't mind the rain but not thunderstorm with strong wind because it will bring flood and damage to properties.
After a night of heavy rain, this was the morning sky at 6:52am.
Sunrise at 7:06am.
Sunrise at 7:30am.
Sunrise at 7:35am.
Sunrise at 7:37am.
We get some sun in the first half of the day and rain in the 2nd half of the day. At this very moment, it is rainy outside with strong wind. I am trying to finish this post as soon as possible so that I can off and unplug the computer and modem.

My friend sent me a photo of an insect she found in her garden. According to her it was dead when she found it. I used Google Lens and it was identified as Cicada. Please feel free to correct me if I am wrong. Have a blessed weekend.
Linking to Saturday's Critters.
Different kinds of fruit trees can quickly be identified
by examing their fruit.
A variety that produces delicious fruit never produces an inedible kind.
And a tree producing an inedible kind can't produce what is good.
So the trees having the inedible fruit are chopped down
and thrown on the fire. Yes, the way to identify a tree or a person
is by the kind of fruit produced.

I love dong po pork, eat with mantao...and that fish curry looks so so good! Yumssss!!!!
ReplyDeleteMe too. I prefer dipping the mantao in the dong po pork gravy than eating rice but they only gave 4 mantao.
DeleteSlurp. Fish curry and dong po rou. Both are my favourite!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Rose. All the dishes very delicious.
DeleteLove dong po pork belly! You can't go wrong with pork belly.

Thank you, Eileen. Thank you for hosting. Have a happy new week.
DeleteCicadas vary in their habits. Some are visible every year and some erupt only rarely, like the 17 year brood that appeared in the Eastern USA last summer.
ReplyDeleteNice meals! I’ve never tasted most of those dishes.

Thank you for the information on cicadas. It is my first seeing the cicadas with its lacy wings.
Delete...and the wings of the Cicada are lacely.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Tom.
DeleteHello Nancy, I hope the dark skies did not develop into very heavy rainfall and thunder storms. As always your dishes look so good. I would like to know what mantou is! The creature is lovely to look at because of the decorative wings.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Breathtaking. Mantou buns are just plain steamed buns without any filling.
DeleteI really like going into your blog Nancy because there is always something new that you have. Tell me what century egg is?
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day my friend.
Cruisin Paul
Thank you, Paul. Century egg is actually preserved duck or chicken egg.
DeleteThe egg is soaked in an alkaline solution containing various chemicals and the end result is the egg white will turn to black and the yolk will be dark grey to black colour.
I am always amazed to see the variety of your food.
ReplyDeleteBoy, do I feel boring!
To yummy times :-)
Over here, most of the restrictions have been lifted except wearing mask, keeping social distancing and signing in before entering premises. So it is good to see the eateries doing good business especially when more people are gaining confidence in going out to eat.
DeleteThat fish curry looks amazingly good. Maybe we'll make one for dinner tonight.
ReplyDeleteThank you, David.
DeleteStrong storms are scary, they can do a great deal of damage.
ReplyDeleteYour food looks delightful!
Thank you, Mimi. The storm season is not over yet.
DeleteBeautiful view of the sky, great food ... what more could you want ...
ReplyDeleteThank you, Krolowa.
DeleteThe Cicada is beautiful with all of it's intricate markings. We are having a stormy day in Florida today. Stay safe!
ReplyDeleteAt this moment it is raining outside but not very heavy.
DeleteThe curry looks deep and rich. Yes, this is a Cicada. The red eyes are a good clue. One thing to note...they shed their entire bodies, so this may just be the shell.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ginny. Thanks for the interesting fact about shedding their bodies.
DeleteSuch strange looking food but maybe only to me
ReplyDeleteThe food which is so different from ours will look strange to us.
DeleteVery moody skies you have there.
ReplyDeleteYes, moody skies very common this rainy season.
DeleteI will leave this raised Pork Belly alone and just concentrate on eating the Fish Curry and Green Amaranth aka yin choy. Do you cook this yin choy 3 eggs soup at home?
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mun. I have cooked the yin choy dish once only.

ReplyDeleteI think there were 8 pieces, 2 pieces to each person.
