Jiggling Braised Pork Belly, Fish Curry & Green Amaranth For Dinner

Since we started to dine out after the second lockdown, we haven't been to Restoran Mun Ji, at Taman Rasi Jaya for our favourite fish curry. So, when my friend ask me where to go for dinner, I suggested this place.

Fish curry with assorted vegetables and tofu puffs.
We can never get bored with this curry.
Then hubby suggested the above dish - jiggling Braised Pork Belly or Dong Po Yoke.
These fried buns or mantou comes together with the braised pork belly.
Then we ordered blanched green amaranth topped with 3 types of egg sauce (normal chicken egg, salted egg and century egg).

These days we are having lots of rain. I don't mind the rain but not thunderstorm with strong wind because it will bring flood and damage to properties.
After a night of heavy rain, this was the morning sky at 6:52am.
Sunrise at 7:06am.
Sunrise at 7:30am.
Sunrise at 7:35am.
Sunrise at 7:37am.
We get some sun in the first half of the day and rain in the 2nd half of the day. At this very moment, it is rainy outside with strong wind. I am trying to finish this post as soon as possible so that I can off and unplug the computer and modem.

My friend sent me a photo of an insect she found in her garden. According to her it was dead when she found it. I used Google Lens and it was identified as Cicada. Please feel free to correct me if I am wrong. Have a blessed weekend.

Different kinds of fruit trees can quickly be identified
by examing their fruit.
A variety that produces delicious fruit never produces an inedible kind.
And a tree producing an inedible kind can't produce what is good.
So the trees having the inedible fruit are chopped down
and thrown on the fire. Yes, the way to identify a tree or a person
is by the kind of fruit produced.

  5. Cicadas vary in their habits. Some are visible every year and some erupt only rarely, like the 17 year brood that appeared in the Eastern USA last summer.

Nice meals! I’ve never tasted most of those dishes.

  7. Hello Nancy, I hope the dark skies did not develop into very heavy rainfall and thunder storms. As always your dishes look so good. I would like to know what mantou is! The creature is lovely to look at because of the decorative wings.

    1. Thank you, Breathtaking. Mantou buns are just plain steamed buns without any filling.

    1. Thank you, Paul. Century egg is actually preserved duck or chicken egg.
The egg is soaked in an alkaline solution containing various chemicals and the end result is the egg white will turn to black and the yolk will be dark grey to black colour.

    1. Over here, most of the restrictions have been lifted except wearing mask, keeping social distancing and signing in before entering premises. So it is good to see the eateries doing good business especially when more people are gaining confidence in going out to eat.

  14. The curry looks deep and rich. Yes, this is a Cicada. The red eyes are a good clue. One thing to note...they shed their entire bodies, so this may just be the shell.
