Our friend from the north state was in Ipoh. He and his partner wanted to eat the famous curry noodle in Bercham. They have gone there twice and each time they saw a long queue waiting there. So, one normal weekday morning, we went there early and the crowd was gone and there was no queuing. So we quickly pick whatever add-ons we wanted and gave our orders and in a short while, a table was available for the 4 of us. We still have to wait for a while for our food to be served.
I ordered a bowl of curry with yellow noodle, roast pork and cockles to share with hubby. Hubby likes cockles and the cockles were big.
Our friend ordered a bowl of curry with yellow noodle + rice vermicelli, roast pork and cockles to share with his partner.
These were our add-on - fried bean curd items.
As locals, we will avoid all these popular places during long weekends or public holidays and give chance to the outstation tourists.

While waiting for our table, I took a snapshot of this beautiful red Adenium or Desert Rose near the gate.

Open the gates of the Temple - I will go in and give him my thanks.
Those gates are the way into the presence of the Lord,

O Lord, thank you so much for answering my prayer and saving me.

I had to look up cockles ... oh. I would go hungry, I guess ;-) Nice flower, though!
ReplyDeleteI didn't eat any cockles. Left all to hubby.
DeleteI have never seen one of these flowers!
ReplyDeleteThey are beautiful and in many colour shades. But I am not good with them. They all died in my care.
DeleteThe fresh plump cockles caught my eye! That must be a very good bowl of curry laksa. Quite hard to find those with cockles in my area. That Adenium is so pretty, just like a rose!
ReplyDeleteI didn't expect such plump cockles. We usually get small ones.
DeleteI t's a great idea to go out for food, here I often go for a coffee or an ice, but no meals! Have a great day, hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteWe have endless choices for food and drinks.
DeleteThe curry noodle dish looks appetizing! Had to find out what cockles are, and goody... it's also in the Philippines, which we call "halaan" from the clam family. We usually see lots of their shells here by the seashore.
ReplyDeleteThat's a unique flower, I've never seen one as adorable!
Cockles are not cheap these days.
DeleteMy girl just said it the other day - that she misses the curry mee with cockles she used to enjoy in Sg Petani. We have curry mee here but no cockles, our fried kway teow also...no cockles. So sad.
ReplyDeleteWe usually get small cockles. I was surprised to see the plumb cockles.
DeleteLooks great! I would eat everything except pork! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely day! ๐

Thank you, Kiara.
DeleteGood idea to arrive when there are no long lineups. Waiting for the food probably meant that it was prepared to order, always a good thing.
ReplyDeleteThank you, David. The food is freshly prepared.
DeleteI love the one with roasted pork!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Angie.
Delete...I remember seeing desert roses in Maui, they are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYes, they are beautiful.
DeleteEveryone is travelling due to the long holiday. We also have relatives travelling from Sibu, we entertained them for past few days.
ReplyDeleteThe curry noodle looked good.
Ipoh has been swarmed by tourist from far and near. Most of the eateries were pack and fully booked.
DeleteThanks for your sharing...
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome.
DeleteThe Curry Noodle / Nyonya Laksa looks good. Thanks, I have noted the name Lim Ji Nyonya Laksa, Bercham. Do they also have cubes of solidified blood to add to the curry noodles?
ReplyDeleteI don't know about the solidified blood.
DeleteFood, all the wonderful food you get to enjoy.
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining the Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Wordless Wednesday, Nancy. ♥
Thank you, Sandee. Have a wonderful day.
DeleteBeautiful desert rose! I have never had cockles.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Gigi.
DeleteChe buon piatto! Sarร delizioso!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Lea.
DeleteYou know just the right time to go places, and your friends benefit from that.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flower!
We prefer to avoid the crowd.
DeleteThe rose is lovely. We have cockles here also but much smaller. I remember as a child my mum used to get them fresh from the fishermen and eat them raw and covered in vinegar. I never liked them because I don't like vinegar and I always seemed to get sand in my mouth!
ReplyDeleteI used to enjoy eating cockles when I was younger but now I don't eat them.
DeleteGreat dishes as always
ReplyDeleteThank you, Steve.
DeleteThank you, Francisco.
ReplyDeleteFrom the perfect just-slightly-raw cockles, this should be a very good curry noodle.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Stacy.
