Getting bored with the usual breakfast varieties in our area, we drove over to Menglembu new township for breakfast. Our preferred place is Restoran Meng Meng kee.
I ordered toast and requested for the butter and kaya (coconut jam) to be served separately from the toast.
Hubby ordered steamed flat rice noodle (chee cheong fun).
Hubby ordered chicken drumstick, half a potato and curry gravy. Pickled green chilies and chili sauce served on the side.
We shared the toast and the chee cheong fun. We each had a cup of unsweetened coffee.

The following photos were taken at the Hawayi Ice, Teluk Intan when we were there for some iced dessert about a month ago. There is a display corner for these antiques.

Cockscomb flowers from my front garden.
Some are big and some are small.
Different shades of red.
Come, let's talk this over, says the Lord;
no matter how deep the stain of your sins,
I can take it out and make you as clean as freshly fallen snow.
Even if you are stained as red as crimson,
I can make you white as wool!
(Isaiah 1:18, The Living Bible-TLB)
The steamed noodles look good. And the first basket is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ginny.
DeleteI miss kaya! Unfortunately, I'm on a low sugar diet - cannot eat that. Love having it with butter on toast..
ReplyDeleteI used to buy kaya in bottles but now I only enjoys kaya with toast once in a while because hubby is also on love sugar diet.
DeleteHmmm, yum food!
ReplyDeleteAntiques, LOL, you´d find the morsel right here, looks nearly the same.
Ahhh, the flowers - here...still green... no flowers yet.
Thank you, Iris. Looking forward to your flowers.
DeleteI love those roti kaya with butter from kopitiam. I used to have that as a little girl. The color of your Cockscomb is so brilliant!
ReplyDeleteThank you, PH.
DeleteThank you Nancy for the beautiful flowers. I like them best when they grow into a ball shape. Toast With Butter + Kaya & Chee Cheong Fun For Breakfast sounds wonderful. I see they give a lot of butter. Is that a big piece of potato in the chee cheong fun plate?
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mun. Yes, that is one half of a big potato!
DeleteThe toast looks special... served separately at the side... nice!
ReplyDeleteYes, I especially like the toast here.
Delete...lovely antiques today Nancy and the cockscombs are beautiful. My 18 year old granddaughter whose mother is Korean is named Kaya.
ReplyDeleteKaya is a lovely name. In Malay, kaya means rich.
DeleteWe hardly ever go out for breakfast so I have the same bowl of cereal most days of the year.
ReplyDeleteActually I don't mind having oats porridge most of the mornings but hubby doesn't like oats.
DeleteI looked in wonder at the beautiful plate with chicken drumstick, half potato and curry gravy and thought to myself - I usually don't have meat at breakfast. It might happen only at a hotel which serves hot dogs in the morning, and I'll eat everything before going out to my daily adventure.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, I enjoyed buffet breakfast served at hotels, lots of choices.
DeleteCockscomb flowers in your garden look really beautiful, Nancy. p.s You can use white chive blossoms to make the salt. I like blue blossoms because I prefer the colour contrast against white sea salt and yellow lemon zest.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Angie. Maybe I can try out with whatever little blossoms that I can gather from the 2 pots of chives.
DeleteLove the food.
ReplyDeleteLove the antiques.
