Mixed Pork Porridge With Fried + Steamed Fish & Wonton Mee

There are times when we do not know what we want to eat for lunch. After a few suggestions, we finally settled for porridge at Restoran Kar Heng, Ipoh.

We ordered a plate of fried fresh water fish.
Our friends ordered this steamed fresh water fish.
Both the fried and steamed fish were very nice.
This is the mixed pork porridge (chu chap chook).
Took this pic of a yellow butterfly on a sunny morning.
We meet up with the same friends for dinner at Cheong Kee Wan Tan Mee in Buntong.
I usually order the dry version but this time, I wanted the soup version.

  1. The first one looks really yummy (said from a not-fish-liking-person ;-)...)
    But the insects... .ahhhh....
Hard to believe I "survived" Australia´s Outback.
    To a great Saturday.

  2. The fried version of the fish looks nicer. I would love to try the soup version of the wanton mee - don't think I've ever seen that.

  3. Wonderful food, as always. The butterfly and cricket are great shots, but I don't even want to think about that spider! Hugs, Valerie

  4. Hello Nancy, :=) Your two first fish dishes look really good. The pork porridge is a meal I have never heard of before. The Spider looks very scary, pretty butterfly and I'm quite fond of crickets and love to hear them in the garden at night.
    Have a good weekend.

  5. Thank you Nancy for the photos of bugs cos the word insectology pops up in my brain when I saw the bugs and had to check whether or not it is a valid word. So so about the Mixed Pork Porridge cos I like porridge but not so much the pork . Love both Fried + Steamed Fish. I prefer eating Wonton Mee in soup because I don't want to eat those gravy. Which bug do you prefer?

  10. Those noodles look so good. The butterfly blends in so well with the leaves that I really had to hunt to find him. This is the creepiest, most scary looking cricket I have ever seen!
