This was Friday, eve of General Election (GE15). Younger son took about 5 hours of driving to reach home which on normal days will only take about 3 hours. Both our sons return home for polling day which was on 19th November (Saturday). That evening, we had home cooked dinner for the 4 of us.
Minced meat with fish paste patties.
Blanched home grown nai pak choy, drizzled with garlic oil, oyster and soy sauce.
Pig stomach, pork belly, ginkgo nuts, ginger and white peppercorn soup.
~~~~~
19th November (Saturday) was polling day.
I was the first to finished casting my vote, so I waited outside the school gate for my sons.
I was standing beside a motorcycle which had the above image on the bike.
Hubby went back to Gopeng to cast his vote. My 2 sons and I went to Gopeng to join him for lunch at Lawan Kuda.
But first, we stopped at this traditional soy sauce factory in Gopeng to buy a few bottles of soy sauce for our sons' friends.
Sun dried soy beans using the traditional method of fermenting and processing the soy sauce and soy bean paste.
The products and their prices.
A newspaper cutting in 2013 mentioned that this factory is over 60 years old. So now in 2022, the factory will be over 70 years old.
I wanted to buy the thick soy sauce but it was out of stock. I bought a bottle of black vinegar to try. It had no label so I stuck a label to it in case I forget.
I would have you learn this great fact:
that a life of doing right is the wisest life there is.
If you live that kind of life, you'll not limp or stumble as you run.
Carry out my instructions;
don't forget them, for they will lead you to real living.
(Proverbs 4:11-13, The Living Bible-TLB)
Thanks for your sharing, have a lovely week...
ReplyDeleteThank you and have a lovely week too.
Deletemy aunt's family is also operating a soy sauce factory like this, it requires a huge land.
ReplyDeleteThere is a piece of land where all the earthen jars were placed.
Delete...I had not idea how soy sauce was made, thanks Nancy.
ReplyDeleteThis is the simplest and most traditional method.
DeleteNever been to traditional soy sauce factory. But all those pots reminded me of the time I visited kimchi factory in Korea. Also lots of pot outdoor.
ReplyDeleteIt is quite interesting visiting this factory and see it for ourselves.
DeleteThat homemade dinner looks awesome. The blanched veggies looks so inviting, but my favourite is that soup. I have never been to a soya sauce factory...how interesting!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Angie. The peppery soup is great for rainy days.
DeleteThank you Nancy. Good to vote early in the day so that can quickly marked it as completed on your daily Todo list. The vinegar must taste very good since it is from a reputable maker. Is it very sour?
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mun. I have yet to use the black vinegar. Will share in my post after I have used it.
DeleteI love your food. I'm always visit before I have breakfast.
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining the Happy Tuesday Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Happy Tuesday, Nancy. ♥
Thank you, Sandee. Have a fabulous day too.
Deletewowee- love your photos of the soy sauce!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Kathe.
Delete5 hours would be like driving from Sibu to Kuching, 3 hours from here to Bintulu. Where are they? KL? Not Johore, I'm sure - that should take more than 3 hours. I stayed at a HDB flat right next to a soy sauce "factory" in 1973 in Singapore so what you have in your photos look very familiar.
ReplyDeleteFrom KL to Ipoh. Both my sons voted early, took lunch and drove back to KL to avoid getting caught in traffic jam.
DeletePig stomach is considered as Chinese medicine. For digestive health. I love it when it is cooked with other medicinal herbs
ReplyDeleteThank you, Roentare. The peppery soup keeps the body warm.
DeleteSiempre interesante. Besos.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Teresa.
DeleteMe pareciĆ³ interesante lo de la fabrica de soja . Te mando un beso. https://enamoradadelasletras.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteThank you, Citu.
DeleteIt must be interesting to watch how soy sauce and vinegar are made.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mimi. I haven't have the chance to watch the work in process.
DeleteThe soup sounds very tummy-warming.
ReplyDeleteOh no labels? Quite unusual actually.
They are identified by different coloured caps. I better labelled it before I forget what is in the bottle. Lol!
