Even before the dinner at Sungai Buloh ended, someone was talking about going for durian supper! Initially, I thought they were just pulling each other's leg!
From Sungai Buloh we drove all the way to some place in Cheras! There was a row of brightly lit stalls along the road selling durians.
From Sungai Buloh we drove all the way to some place in Cheras! There was a row of brightly lit stalls along the road selling durians.
We came to this stall with many durians of different prices.
The famous "Musang King" durian. These were the expensive ones.
The cheaper ones were placed in front.
Those hanging in pink netting bags were mangosteens.
It is believed that after eating durian which is heaty,
it is good to eat mangosteen which will cool down the body.
Tables, chairs and fans were provided for customers' comfort.
After feasting on the durians, they even provided free drinking water.
A first time experience for some of us.
Some of the durians we feasted on....
One of the yummy ones. The bitter sweet taste is always my favourite.
After the durian feast, it was time to return to Semenyih.
Upon reaching home, we remembered the ciku fruits were still in the car.
They were too ripe to keep another day,
so we ended up eating the ciku before we retired for the night.
Next day, we had boiled sweet corn (from Sekinchan) for lunch while waiting at KL Sentral to board our train back to Ipoh. Its finally, "Home, Sweet Home"!
Jesus replied, "Anyone who loves Me will obey My teaching.
My Father will love them, and we will come to them
and make Our home with them.
Anyone who does not love Me will not obey My teaching.
These words you hear are not My own;
they belong to the Father who sent Me.
(John 14:23, NIV)
Nice durian feast.
ReplyDeleteHi Rose, we couldn't eat much because just after our dinner.
DeleteHello, the Durian is new to me. Looks like a great feast. Have a happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteHi Eileen, its either you love durian or hate it. Some people can't stand the strong smell.
DeleteIf we nearby, can go durian feast, hehe...
ReplyDeleteHi Sharon, yes, we make great durian team.
DeleteA very fruitful day. Pardon the pun.
ReplyDeleteI've never tried a durian fruit. I'll look for some in the super market.
Welcome Home Nancy. It will feel great sleeping in your own bed.
Hugs,
JB
Hi Julia, its good to have a taste to know whether you like it or hate it. Oh yes, sleeping in my own bed with my own pillow is still the best!
DeleteNancy I admire your food is very exotic to me
ReplyDeleteHi Gosia, to you it is exotic alright! Over here we get to eat once or two a year only.
DeleteI really drool over the durian. I also like bitter sweet & creamy flesh durian. Over here in Kuching, durian season has just started & they are quite expensive. I thought people always say after eating durian cannot take mangosteen. Blurrrrrr!!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Irene, over here the durian season is almost coming to an end. Oh! I usually eat mangosteen after durian. And I love mangosteen too.
DeleteI have never come across durian before, certainly looks interesting.
ReplyDeleteI do not know whether durian has been imported into your country or not. For some tasting durian for the first time can be very challenging.
DeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteI am amazed you had durian supper, sounds very innovative and interesting. I thought the normal water is not chargeable and only bottled water is chargeable. Delicious fruits and the photos are lovely. Surely you had a wonderful time.
Best wishes
Hi Joseph, this water is factory packed and sealed in plastic cups. We had a great holiday!
DeleteVery different food from what I'm used to.
ReplyDeleteHi William, durian is not common in western countries.
DeleteI've heard of these, but don't really know what they are. Fruit? I don't know. You're brave to try them. Looks kind of scary.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous day Nancy. ☺
Hi Sandee, we called this durian King of fruits. Ha ha I am crazy for durian!
DeleteI've never tried these! Bitter sounds interesting, though. Sweet corn is a fave of ours, too. T. http://tickledpinkwoman.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteHi Tina, we both like sweet corn. Raw sweet corn tastes good when eaten fresh!
DeleteI've heard of the smell of durian and have seen it here in Asian stores but have never tried it. I've also heard of mangosteen's but don't think I've seen the fruit here. Only the juice which is sold in health food stores. Many claim this juice is very helpful to the health but is so very expensive here (about $40 Cdn. dollars for just under 1 litre).
ReplyDeleteHi Joyful, I too have heard about mangosteen juice and yes is very expensive. I love fresh mangosteen. And even the fruits are now becoming more and more expensive.
DeleteWhat a feast!!! :)
ReplyDeleteI think it may be an exotic feast for the westerners.
DeleteDurian feast! I like! But for lunch, not after dinner.
ReplyDeleteHi Mun, my durian feast can be anytime!
DeleteNancy, I have been eating durians too! Musang King is so expensive!
ReplyDeleteHi Phong Hong, this year I have been trying a few types, quite expensive too.
DeleteReally cool photos, I would love to visit.
