A friend recommended this new eatery in Lawan Kuda surrounded by an ex-mining lake. So one evening few months back, hubby and I went to check out this place but the gate leading to the eatery was closed.
Last week, my retirees group wanted to try the Snakehead Fish (San Yu in Cantonese) wine soup in Lawan Kuda and we were ready to go!
Last week, my retirees group wanted to try the Snakehead Fish (San Yu in Cantonese) wine soup in Lawan Kuda and we were ready to go!
A friend drove us all the way from Ipoh to Gopeng and then to Lawan Kuda.
The shop we wanted to go for lunch was closed. We were not worried because there are other good eateries we can go to.
Since we were in the same vicinity, we agreed to take a drive to check out this new lake view place in the Lawan Kuda village at Jalan Desa Cahaya.
The gate to this place was wide opened and we drove on this narrow pathway to check out the place.
This is the name of the recommended eatery.
We found out from a young man that the eatery only opens after 5pm.
The young man was very nice to show us around and we were free to take photos.
We were told that if we are to come around 5 to 5.30 pm and if the weather is good, we will get to see very beautiful sunset.
We were surrounded by a big lake with beautiful scenery.
The day we visited was hazy.

When evening comes, this place will be filled with dining tables and chairs.
The 3 partitioned areas are for rearing Tilapia fishes, both the red and black Tilapias for their business kitchen.
With the young man leading us, we carefully walked on the wobbling planks to see the fishes.

After the matured fishes were harvested from the lake, they will be placed in this concrete pool behind the kitchen.
This side is facing the new residential area.
Our foodie friend busy with her camera.
Beautiful view of the distant hills, palm trees and reflection on the lake.
After we have obtained the contact number, we thanked the young man and it was time to leave for lunch in the little town of Lawan Kuda.

2 evenings later, we called up to book a table for 10 people.
God was indeed good to us and our new friends!
The moment we settled down at our table, there was a very heavy downpour!
While waiting for our dinner, hubby took some photos.
Black Tilapia fishes, freshly prepared and ready for steaming.
Dishes ready to be served.

Below were our dinner dishes....
Deep Fried Tofu with minced meat in gravy.
Egg omelette with bbq meat & big onions.
Deep Fried Black Tilapia fish with sweet sour sauce.
A plate of Glass Lettuce blanched in boiling water.
Stinking beans with minced meat and onion wedges cooked with sambal belacan.
Deep Fried Chicken with dipping sauce.
Steamed Black Tilapia fish with preserved salted black beans and garlic.
This is their signature dish, promoting their freshly reared fish.

Above all, my brothers and sisters, do not swear -
not by heaven or by earth or by anything else.
All you need to say is a simple "Yes" or "No."
Otherwise you will be condemned.

The views are so beautiful, Nancy! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Linda. I love the nature scenes.
DeleteA very interesting post Nancy. I enjoy when you show us the different dishes. I'm not sure if I could try some of them but I do like talapia.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day friend. See ya.
Cruisin Paul
Thank you, Paul. Tilapia fish is very common over here. Have a lovely day.

ReplyDeleteYes, our next foodie adventure will be at Peng Yew! You must try the soup there!
DeleteI like to eat the petai! The steamed fish too!

DeleteA beautiful place to explore with some lovely food. The fish looks wonderful.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mamasmercantile. The fish is really fresh!
DeleteThe haziness of the day does come across well in the early pics.
ReplyDeleteThank you, William. The haze is worse today.
DeleteBeautiful view and I like the dishes you ordered.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Rose. The dishes are quite tasty!
DeleteHi Nancy,
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely place to visit... I really like the peacefulness of this place with no busy people and traffic jam. Best of all, the food in the restaurant looks very delicious!
Zoe
Thank you, Zoe. The food is quite tasty. I too like the place and surrounding.
DeleteThe food looks lovely and the scenery is beautiful. I even like that narrow pathway to get to the restaurant. But what happens when you are driving on that pathway and a car comes from the other direction toward you. There doesn't seem to be any room for two cars. Maybe there is another pathway for traffic going the opposite way? The only thing that would put me off from eating at this restaurant is the fact they use farmed fish. I only eat wild fish from the ocean or wild fish from the lakes here.
ReplyDeleteHi Joyful, actually the narrow pathway is quite short and we are able to see if any car coming from opposite direction to give way. There is only one pathway. Yes, they used farmed fishes. If they depends on the wild fishes from the lake, the lake will very soon run out of wild fishes.
DeleteThe scenery is so beautiful and the haze makes it look mysterious.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure I would like any of the dishes but it's always interesting to see what people eat over there. I've had Talapia before but I much prefer Halibut.
Hugs,
JB
The most common and cheapest fresh water fish here is the Tilapia. This place serves only Tilapia. We do have other fishes in the other restaurant.
DeleteI loves the place, so nice...
ReplyDeleteHi Sharon, I too love the scenery!
DeleteI would love to see these places....always so interesting to see the things you show.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Rose. It would be more interesting to visit in the evening to catch the sunset view.
DeleteThe fried tilapia must have been reared by them too? :) But normally fried you can't tell fresh or not la. All the dishes also look good.
ReplyDeleteNot bad this place - got food and "sightseeing" available.
Yes, Stacy. There are only Tilapia fishes and all fishes are from the lake. We ordered the fried fish just to try a different dish. It is a nice place to have an evening meal.
DeleteNice place to dine with beautiful scenery. Never know there is back tilapia, I only know the red one. I won't dare to walk on the woobly plank. Food looks good.
ReplyDeleteIt seemed the black ones are more tasty than the red ones. I used to be afraid of these woobly planks but lately I have gained some courage.
DeleteNancy, this place is quite scenic. I would not dare to walk on the planks hah..hah... The food may look ordinary and down to earth but I bet it was very tasty and worth the trip there!
ReplyDeleteHi Phong Hong, this time I have found the courage to walk on those planks...overall, it is worth the trip there for the scenery and food.
Deletewow...so this is how the place looks like in the day time.
ReplyDeleteFood taste good too
Yes, this is how the place looks like in the day. Hope to go back one day to catch the sunset
