Charcoal Roasted Duck At Restoran Sri Taman Mas, Ipoh

My friends recommended to me this place which they claimed served very good charcoal roasted duck.

Last Saturday, hubby and I came to this place for our lunch. This is Restoran Sri Taman Mas, at Jalan Mas, Kawasan Perindustrian Ringan Taman Mas, Ipoh.
The business opens from 9 am to 6 pm.
I took these pictures of the shop on an earlier date to confirm with my friends whether this is the shop they recommended.
We ordered a plate of roasted duck for 2 person.
It came with duck sauce and chili sauce.
We were given a duck drumstick.
We also ordered a bowl of our favourite dish - stew spicy & sour veggie or choy keok in Cantonese or chai boey in Hokkien.
The green veggie used is the mustard green (kai choy in Cantonese).
This dish is very appetizing. I can finish this whole big bowl by myself!
Just looking at these pictures makes me salivate!
The green veggie is stewed with the odds and ends of the roasted duck or whichever part not served to customers e.g. the legs, neck and other bony parts.
God has made many parts for our bodies and
has put each part just where He wants it.
What a strange thing a body would be if it had only one part!
So He has made many parts, but still there is only one body.
The eye can never say to the hand, "I don't need you."
The head can't say to the feet, "I don't need you."
Now here is what I am trying to say:
All of you together are the one body of Christ,
and each one of you is a separate and necessary part of it.
(1 Corinthians 12:18b-21, 27, TLB)

  3. I like duck but don't dare to eat often as it is high in uric acid. Give me chai boey anytime & I can eat a lot, very appetising dish. As I am commenting, I am salivating at the same time.

  5. I like to eat roast duck too. You can finish the whole big bowl of choy keok with rice or without rice? If with rice, wouldn't you need to eat a lot of rice because as far as I know the choy keok is spicy, salty and sourish so it needs to go with rice? Have a blessed weekend!

    1. Thank you, Mun. Hubby and I shared 1 rice and we both finished the choy keok. Good thing it was not very salty. Whenever I cook this dish at home, I will eat the choy keok only without rice. Lol!

  6. I love roast duck and this does look delicious, Nancy. I have only eaten duck leg, though, and I would not want to see the head in any food I eat. This looks tender, moist and succulent.

  18. Nancy, I love the sour veggie soup too! When I buy roast duck, I dislike it that they chop off the bony but meaty parts and discard into their collection bin. I end up with very little. Now I know why they do that - to use for the soup! Next time, I will ask them to pack the whole duck, bones and all.

    1. Thank you, Phong Hong. If we are eating there at the eatery and not asking for whole duck, I would just keep quiet. But if I were to pack home the whole duck, then I will ask them to pack everything. Lol! After all, we are paying for the whole duck.
