Growing Pink Lady In My Garden

Today I am sharing another type of Aglaonema plant growing in my garden. There are many types of Aglaonema and they come in different colours. If you are interested to see other Aglaonema plants in my garden, you can click here and here.

 If I am not mistaken, its common name is Pink Lady.

A very sweet and attractive Pink Lady!

I have one pot exposed to half day sun and one pot under the porch.

 Aglaonema Pink Lady is a slow growing plant.

It grows well in moist soil with good water drainage.

Over-watering will cause root rot and the plant will die.

 The leaves are glossy and smooth.

I fertilize them once in 2 to 4 weeks

 This is the flower of Pink Lady.

Another bloom from the plant.

Propagation can be done through stem cuttings.

More light, the leaves colour will be lighter.

 Less light, the colour will be darker.

 This leaf looks like my printed batik sarong (cloth).

 The whole plant is toxic.

The most common pest is the mealy bugs. They are white and powdery.

If noticed at an early stage, the affected part can be cleaned or sprayed with pesticide. But if the pest is too wide spread, the stems can be cut off and

wait for new shoots to grow from the remaining stumps.

 For there is hope for a tree - if it's cut down,

it sprouts again and grows tender, new branches.

Though its roots have grown old in the earth,

and its stump decays, it may sprout and

bud again at the touch of water, like a new seedling.
