A Day Trip To Sitiawan And Teluk Batik, Perak

On Saturday we made a one day trip to Sitiawan, Teluk Batik and Lumut. We made a similar trip with the same family about 13 years ago.
  We started at about 10.20 am.
Altogether there were 10 of us, 7 adults and 3 children.
 We travelled in 2 cars.
The morning was bright and sunny. The sky was blue with white clouds.
It was a leisure drive and the traffic was light.
 We reached Kampung Cina at about 11.30 am.
We were the first customers at this seafood restaurant.
 We ordered a bottle of toddy palm or palm wine and some young coconuts as starter. The toddy palm was very fresh and fragrant. It tasted sweet too.
 Fried oyster omelette or "Oh Chien". This is the crispy version.
A bowl of misua or mee sua with red rice wine and chicken soup.
Misua or mee sua is a type of Chinese salted noodle made from wheat flour.
 A local confinement dish for women after giving birth.
Crispy deep fried cuttlefish.
 Plain steamed fish.
Sweet sour mud craps.
 Mud crab cooked with salted egg.
We also order a plated of fried misua and a plate of green veggie.
No photo of fried noodle and green veggie.
 From Kampung Cina we drove to Teluk Batik. That will be for the next post. After Teluk Batik, we drove on to Lumut.
 This photo was taken along the street of Lumut.
 Took a snapshot of this view on our way out of Lumut.
Dark clouds were gathering. Signs of rain in the next few hours.

Let us acknowledge the LORD;
let us press on to acknowledge Him.
As surely as the sun rises, He will appear;
He will come to us like the winter rains,
like the spring rains that water the earth.
(Hosea 6:3, NIV)

  1. I have not tried palm wine. Is it tasty? Can get drunk on it? Nice road trip! Have a good week ahead.

    1. Hello Mun, when the palm wine is fresh, it is fragrant and tastes sweet. And one or two glass will not get you drunk when its fresh. But once it starts to ferment, I do not want to smell or drink it.

  16. After over 12 years in Malaysia, it was only about a year ago that I first tried toddy. Since then I've had it a number of times. I haven't yet acquired a real taste for it, but I like to sample it when I have the chance.

    1. Hello Monica, good to hear that you are adventurous to try toddy. I only take fresh toddy and we do not take it often. As and when it is available and only when it is fresh. Have a great week!

    Food looks very different to what we eat..but good to have things different, then we can have the best food of both worlds.

  19. That's an interesting design of the things over the cars. Are those solar-powered chargers for electric cars? Or are they just for looks?
