One evening, we had a late dinner because hubby had something to attend to. We were thinking of having noodles for dinner and we thought of Tuck Kee's Fried Fat Noodles and Blanched Octupus dish!
We used to go to the original Restoran Tuck Kee, but now we prefer this newer Tuck Kee along Jalan Theatre. I am not sure whether this is a branch of the original Tuck Kee or not, but the shop here looks newer and brighter.
They have framed up menu on the wall.
If you are at a lost on what to order, take a look and point out your order. So easy!
Everything looks delicious!
It was full house...
We took an empty table along the 5 foot way, just outside the shop.
We ordered blanched octupus. Or is it steamed?
The centre plate of chili sauce is dipping sauce for the octupus.
The 2 other sauces on the sides are for the noodles.
Fried flat rice noodles with prawns, pork slices and veggie.
And this is my favourite. Fried fat or broad yellow noodles with prawns, pork slices, veggie and of course crispy lard. All the above are the smallest portion..
Kedai Makanan Tuck Kee, Jalan Theatre, Ipoh.
I couldn't get a clear photo because of the spot lights.
O Lord, You are my light! You make my darkness bright.

Nancy what time do yuu have an evening dinner?
ReplyDeleteHi Gosia, my dinner time is quite flexible. Usually it is between Malaysian time 7 to 8 pm. Sometimes it can be as early as 5.30 pm. For this particular evening, we had our noodle dinner about 9 pm.
DeleteYour late dinner was goid especially that blanched octopus.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Rose. Not easy to resist ordering the blanched octopus because it tastes so good.
DeleteThe plate of blanched octupus making me hungry...
ReplyDeleteHi Sharon, ha ha it looks good and tasty.
DeleteI have never had octopus before...
ReplyDeleteHi Linda, I am not really a fan of octopus but this one is good.
DeleteMy favorite!!!!! The blanched octopus ha-ha...artery clogging but who cares...everything in moderation hor :)
ReplyDeleteYes! Everything in moderation. Not always we get to eat this.
DeleteNancy, the noodles sure look delicious! Looking at it makes me very hungry :D
ReplyDeleteThank you, Phong Hong. The noodles are very tasty. Makes me hungry too!
DeleteThe portion looks huge though they are the smallest. All I like. Looking at them makes my tummy growling.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Irene. The portion is just nice for 2 of us. Sometimes we eat these for supper.
DeleteSuch a great idea to have frames for the menu. I have never had octopus before.
ReplyDeleteThe octopus dish is tasty. They are cooked just right and not tough.
DeleteThe small portions look BIG!
ReplyDeleteHi Tom, I think it looks big because the food is spread out on a shallow plate.
DeleteThe fried fat or broad yellow noodles with prawns, pork slices, veggie and of course crispy lard looks like KL Hokkien Char.
ReplyDeleteHi Mun, it is the same Hokkien Char as the one in KL.
DeleteI never had octopus and I wonder what they taste like. It looks pretty strange to me.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day. It's snowing here today. We're having a biog snow storm.
Hugs,
JB
Thank you, Julia. Over here we have very hot days and sometimes rain in the late afternoon or evening.
DeleteIt looks like you get out and about often!
ReplyDeleteHi William, over here it is very convenient to go out and about and eating out is very convenient.
DeleteYou have the most wonderful dinners. My all this looks so very good.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous day Nancy. ☺
Thank you, Sandee. Have a fabulous day too!
DeleteWoah, those flat rice noodles look delicious!
ReplyDeleteThank you, dear. I love the flat rice noodles.
DeleteOctopus for the win omg! i wanna taste that one here in the Philippines, i envy you so much nancy for having that available in your country!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Steve. I heard that Philippines also have many interesting and delicious food.
DeleteI feel like I'm out to dinner with you! I enjoy the scenery in the background and how colorful it is! I made vegetable tofu last night in a homemade Asian sauce. Recipe said to cube my tofu, dry it out and bake for 30 min in the oven for a toasty effect. Tom did not like it. I think the cook was trying to appease vegans who miss meat and trying to get it to taste more like meat!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mary. I think the tofu in your recipe will become dry and hard. Over here, we like the tofu to be crispy on the outside and silky smooth and soft on the inside. Tofu will be tough if overcooked. Tofu is substitute for meat as a veggie protein.
DeleteOo that octopus looks real good! On whether it's blanch or steam, my bet is on 'blanch' coz it's faster hehe.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Stacy. I guess is blanch too. Ha ha...
DeleteThere is one thing I really like is prawns.
ReplyDeleteHi Margaret, I like prawns too especially prawn fritters.
Deleteeverything looked delicious but I as a fan of octopus, I would love probably the first dish most:)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ola. The octopus is tender and springy at the same time. It is very delicious with the chili dipping.
Deletewe always eat our final meal early, so it has plenty of time to digest. i have never eaten octopus, so i don't know if i like it. it looks a little creepy, i would have to get past that!!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Debbie, we too usually have our meal early but for this particular that we had a late one. I am not really a fan of octupus but I do eat a little bit. Ha ha..it does look creepy.
DeleteI love all your food posts! I was in Ipoh and tried the octopus. So sedap. Can't recall the restaurant name. I will dig it out when it's time to blog about it..haha
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sharon. I am glad that you enjoyed the octopus. Looking forward to read your post. Have a lovely weekend!
