Last Tuesday morning, hubby and I took a drive to Gopeng. Hubby had something to do in Gopeng and at the same time to visit a friend there.
It was a bright, sunny day and it was easy driving all the way. We visited one of the Organized Villages or Kampung Tersusun in Gopeng.
A standing dead tree trunk...
Some plots of land are still without houses....
Spotted 3 goats. The brown one was watching with curiosity.
The goats enjoying their lunch...
Saw these green berries bush growing wild by the roadside.
I couldn't get any closer for a better shot. Don't know whether they are edibles or poisonous.
An old Roman Catholic Church where my sister-in-law attended kindergarten when she was a small girl.
We wanted to go to the food court near the Gopeng wet market but the entrance was blocked by the morning market stalls. Hubby went around the wet market and took another way to reach the food court. First time coming by this way. We didn't know there is a Sanggili Village hidden behind the market.
Hubby wanted to eat chicken porridge. It was about 11.30 am and the crowd was already there.
I noticed the pillars have been newly painted. I was here with my foodie friends last month and I remembered the pillars were white in my previous post. To read, click here.
We ordered a plate of poached chicken for 3 people including our friend.
3 bowls of tasty porridge.
An authentic chicken porridge lunch and fellowship with friend, recalling the good old days.
And not to forget this sweet dessert. A must order ginkgo barley sweet drink.
A shady big tree with wide spreading branches near the wet market and food court where we had our lunch.
"Well," you may say,
"those branches were broken off to make room for me."
Yes, but remember - those branches were broken off
because they didn't believe in Christ,
and you are there because you do believe.
So don't think highly of yourself, but fear what could happen.
For if God did not spare the original branches,
he won't spare you either.
(Romans 11:19-21, NLT)
This verse sounds so new to me, so I looked it up. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteYou are most welcome, Elaine. Have a beautiful new week!
DeleteThat plate of poached chicken with the porridge makes a nice lunch indeed. The dead tree trunk stand out unique & the goats are lovely. Have a great week ahead,
ReplyDeleteThank you, Irene. It was a good trip. Have a great week too!
DeleteWhat a beautiful big tree Nancy:) Must be quite old? Your Bible verse also caught my attention...must check it up. Like your first commenter, it sounds new to me too...perhaps because of different translation 'NLT'- what does it stands for?
ReplyDeleteThank you, Annie. It looked new probably because its from a different translation. 'NLT' is New Living Translation.
DeleteThe goats reminded me of my school days when we had many goats passing through the school compound :)
ReplyDeleteIn those days, some of our schools do not have proper fencing and the goats are free to roam the compound.
DeleteThis is the best. A nice and slow drive, enjoying good food. Porridge and steamed chicken are the best.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Rose. We enjoyed the outing to Gopeng. Wished we could do this more often.
DeleteI will be very happy to see the goat, hehe...
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sharon. Nowadays we seldom get to see goats in the towns and cities.
DeleteHaven't seen that kind of 'berries' before! Probably poisonous yeah.
ReplyDeleteHi Stacy, I too think they are poisonous.
DeleteSounds like a great morning, as always the food looks delicious. The goats made me smile.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mamas. We seldom get to see goats nowadays except in the countryside.
DeleteGoats walking around the streets brings back memories of South Africa. Will be away all of this week and may not be on line. Will be back home on Sunday. Take care Diane
ReplyDeleteThank you, Diane. Have a great week away and hope to have you back on line refreshed. Take care and enjoy your break.
DeleteMais uma bela reportagem.
ReplyDeleteUm abraço e boa semana.
Thank you, Francisco. Have a wonderful day!
DeleteThanks for taking me along on your journey Nancy.
ReplyDeleteHello Tom, you are always welcome to come along on our journey.
DeleteThe food does look nice and it seems a popular place.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Margaret. The porridge is usually sold out within a few hours.
DeleteDo the goats do their business around that area too? If yes, then we must watch our steps when we see goats around.
ReplyDeleteNo worries, Mun. We were driving around in our cars. We may have to watch out for cow dungs...but we didn't see any cow dungs. so we were safe, no land mines.
DeleteHahaaaa... Though we went on two different days, we punup the same post today... Coincidence I call it!
ReplyDeleteHa haaa...indeed a coincidence. So you manage to get the porridge and chicken!
DeleteThe goats are adorable! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Linda. There were little ones too but didn't have any pic to show.
DeleteHow fun. A sightseeing trip and a great lunch. Works for me.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous day Nancy. ☺
Thank you, Sandee. Have a beautiful day!
DeleteIt's that old tree trunk that seems to catch my eye.
ReplyDeleteThank you, William. It caught my eyes too!
DeleteNamcy the dead tree trunk is not reallydead. I think it has survived
ReplyDeleteThe little leaves on the top are probably the parasite plants growing on it. Have a beautiful day!
DeleteWhat a great collection of pictures!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Beauty. Have a wonderful day!
