When I heard from my friend about this pesticide free Lettuce, I was interested and I ordered one through this friend of mine. One plant is sold for RM 10. This pot of Lettuce was delivered to my friend's house 3 days before the Chinese New Year celebration. Since I needed to collect the pot of lettuce from her house, we had breakfast together with another friend before picking up the lettuce.
The lettuce was wrapped with newspaper to protect it before being delivered.
Pots of Lettuce growing in the Pesticide Free Farm.
My friend sent me these photos.
My friend sent me these photos.
Rows and rows of healthy lettuce grown from seeds.
This is ready for consumption.
The farm also grows Petunia plants.
Hoping to visit this farm in the future to take lots of snapshots.
Pretty Petunia blooms in sweet colours.
I would have enjoyed more working in this type of farm instead of in an office. Ha ha!
We ate this Lettuce raw. We used it as wraps for the Yam Bean or sengkuang dish shown below.
My simple yam bean filling for the Pie Tee or Top Hat shells.
We also ate this wrapped with the lettuce leaves.
Wouldn't it be wonderful if I can grow this in my own garden?
I would love to try if I can get some seeds.

Plant the good seeds of righteousness,
and you will reap a crop of my love;
plow the hard ground of your hearts,
for now is the time to seek the Lord,
that he may come and shower salvation upon you.

The petunias are so beautiful...
ReplyDeleteThank you, Krishna. I love petunias but they are not lasting.
DeleteBeautiful lettuce and flowers!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Linda. Have a beautiful day!
DeleteI don't know about your climate but here I grow lettuce and different herbs in the garden. Give it a try! Enjoy your day Nancy - thank you for participating.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Riitta. I think our weather may be too hot to grow lettuce but if I can get the seeds, I will surely try. Have a great day!
DeleteAll are very nice...
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sharon. Have a nice day!
DeleteThe petunias are so pretty! I love this type of lettuce and it is good that you can source pesticide-free ones. If I can, I also want to grow it.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Phong Hong. Now I am looking out for the lettuce seeds.
DeleteA perfect bible verse for today's post! The lettuce is beautiful! It looks like what we call Boston Lettuce.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ginny. Yes, I think it could be Boston Lettuce. It is too beautiful to be eaten. Have a beautiful day!
DeleteI like to eat the lettuce raw too.
ReplyDeleteThe lettuce is best eaten raw, sweet and crunchy.
DeleteFresh and got crispy sound too.. hahahaa... next year must remember to order earlier to avoid disappointment..
ReplyDeleteYes, yes, hope we can remember when next year comes around.
DeleteHello Nancy, I love those pretty petunias.
ReplyDeletePerhaps if you keep the lettuce base watered, the roots will continue to grow... you can pick the leaves for quite a while and then pop it into the garden and leave it to go to seed eventually.
We also grow lettuce here in Australia - it loves the cold season (a frost makes it taste sweeter).
Lovely to read your post. Bye for now :D)
Thank you, Sue. I have thought of plucking off the leaves only but I noticed that the centre has started to brown. So I cut off the whole head of lettuce. We are now having hot sunny weather but I will keep a look out for lettuce seeds.
Delete...looks mighty good!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Tom. Have a good day!
DeleteInteresting post my dear, thank you for sharing :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Beauty. Have a nice day!
DeleteThe lettuce certainly looks so fresh and crispy:) I agree with you Nancy...I think it is much more fun to work in a farm amongst plants than in an office environment:) ...specially as plants grow happy under your care:)
ReplyDeleteYes, working with plants is more rewarding especially when we get a good harvest but will be disappointing if we don't but still better than the boring office work. Lol!
DeleteBeautiful plants:)
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
Thank you, dear. Have a great day!
DeleteBelas alfaces com muito bom e apetitoso aspecto.
ReplyDeleteUm abraço e boa semana.

Thank you, Francisco. Fresh lettuce always tastes better than those from the market.
DeleteI grow a lot of varieties of lettuce in pots in my garden. It was a joy to visit the farm with you such beautiful plants.
ReplyDeleteI would love to grow the lettuce but don't know whether our weather permits it and I will need to get some seeds first.
DeleteBom dia, lindas alfaces saudáveis, certamente que são tenras e saborosas.
ReplyDeleteAG
Thank you, AG. This is the best I have tasted. Definitely sweeter.
DeleteI can't grow that Petunias here, the seeds would not germinate. I seem to like the filling for your lettuce. It's seldom that we can find pesticide free veggies. They're almost always filled with poisons while growing and to give a longer shelf life.
ReplyDeleteI have tried the petunias but the most they last is about 3-5 months. There are some pesticide free veggies or organic ones but they are very expensive.
DeleteThe petunias are very pretty!
ReplyDeleteThank you, William. Have a fantastic day!
DeleteWow, so perfect too. No bugs and especially no dangerous sprays.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous day, Nancy. ☺
Thank you, Sandee. Especially good for salad without having to soak in water before consuming. Have a terrific day!
DeleteLovely flowers:)

Glamorous without the Guilt
Thank you, dear. Have a lovely day!
DeleteI love lettuce. For salad and as a wrap. My parents every year would have this on cny. Wrapped ngoh hiang with the lettuces symbolised good fortune.
ReplyDeleteI love ngoh hiang too but have not eaten it for a long time.
DeleteLettuce is delicious, and my mother says it's very easy to grow. She got one of those kits with the light, and grows her lettuce in water!
ReplyDeleteThank you, dear. I would love to learn from your mother about growing lettuce in water. Have a great day!
DeleteIt looks so good Nancy, and very fresh. I always try to buy foods free of pesticide. Using it as a wrap for the tasty dish you made sounds delicious. This is also a place I would enjoy working. The petunias are very pretty.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Denise. I love petunias but they are not long lasting.
DeleteThose lettuce, I think I saw them at Cameron Highlands before
ReplyDeleteYes, these are also grown in Cameron Highlands. Whenever I go up to C.Highlands, I will usually buy some.
