Bought A Pot Of Lettuce From Pesticide Free Farm.

When I heard from my friend about this pesticide free Lettuce, I was interested and I ordered one through this friend of mine. One plant is sold for RM 10.  This pot of Lettuce was delivered to my friend's house 3 days before the Chinese New Year celebration. Since I needed to collect the pot of lettuce from her house, we had breakfast together with another friend before picking up the lettuce.
The lettuce was wrapped with newspaper to protect it before being delivered.
Pots of Lettuce growing in the Pesticide Free Farm.
My friend sent me these photos.
Rows and rows of healthy lettuce grown from seeds.
This is ready for consumption.
The farm also grows Petunia plants.
Hoping to visit this farm in the future to take lots of snapshots.
Pretty Petunia blooms in sweet colours.
I would have enjoyed more working in this type of farm instead of in an office. Ha ha!
We ate this Lettuce raw. We used it as wraps for the Yam Bean or sengkuang dish shown below.
My simple yam bean filling for the Pie Tee or Top Hat shells.
We also ate this wrapped with the lettuce leaves.
Wouldn't it be wonderful if I can grow this in my own garden?
I would love to try if I can get some seeds.

Plant the good seeds of righteousness,
and you will reap a crop of my love;
plow the hard ground of your hearts,
for now is the time to seek the Lord,
that he may come and shower salvation upon you.

  8. Hello Nancy, I love those pretty petunias.
Perhaps if you keep the lettuce base watered, the roots will continue to grow... you can pick the leaves for quite a while and then pop it into the garden and leave it to go to seed eventually.
We also grow lettuce here in Australia - it loves the cold season (a frost makes it taste sweeter).
Lovely to read your post. Bye for now :D)

    1. Thank you, Sue. I have thought of plucking off the leaves only but I noticed that the centre has started to brown. So I cut off the whole head of lettuce. We are now having hot sunny weather but I will keep a look out for lettuce seeds.

  10. The lettuce certainly looks so fresh and crispy:) I agree with you Nancy...I think it is much more fun to work in a farm amongst plants than in an office environment:) ...specially as plants grow happy under your care:)

    1. Yes, working with plants is more rewarding especially when we get a good harvest but will be disappointing if we don't but still better than the boring office work. Lol!

  14. I can't grow that Petunias here, the seeds would not germinate. I seem to like the filling for your lettuce. It's seldom that we can find pesticide free veggies. They're almost always filled with poisons while growing and to give a longer shelf life.

    1. I have tried the petunias but the most they last is about 3-5 months. There are some pesticide free veggies or organic ones but they are very expensive.

  18. It looks so good Nancy, and very fresh. I always try to buy foods free of pesticide. Using it as a wrap for the tasty dish you made sounds delicious. This is also a place I would enjoy working. The petunias are very pretty.
