Harvesting The Second Pineapple From My Garden.

Few days ago, I harvested the second pineapple from my garden. I harvest the 1st pineapple from my garden in January this year and you can click here to take a look at the pineapple or read the post.. These pineapple took about a year plus, almost 2 years to bear fruit but it was very rewarding to be able to harvest these pineapple from my own garden.

After the 1st pineapple harvest, I noticed another tiny pineapple coming out from this plant.

The colour of this pineapple and the flowers is of lighter shade compared to the 1st pineapple. There are of different variety.

This pineapple plant has 2 other shoots coming out from the soil.

The pineapple stem that supported the fruit looks thick and strong.

And it has little shoots (marked by blue circles) coming out below the fruit.

Pineapple is easy to grow and does not need much care or attention.

2nd month

Many baby shoots growing from under the fruit.

This plant took more than a year, almost 2 years to bear fruit (with minimum care)

3rd month - sign of ripening, turning yellow.

I left it to ripen on the plant.

4 days later - I harvested the pineapple.

It turned out to be very sweet and juicy, the best pineapple I have tasted! I used the crown and the little shoots to plant again and will have to wait to see if my attempt is successful.
