Ginger Harvest From My Garden

I noticed that my pot of ginger was overcrowded, so it was time to harvest the ginger roots or rhizomes. The ginger plants were grown in a shallow pot, so it was easy to loosen the soil using a spade to dig around the inner side of the pot. Then I grabbed hold of the whole bunch of ginger shoots and the whole lot came out of the pot.

I gently loosen the soil from the rhizomes back into the pot. I separated the smaller rhizomes from the bigger ones, and kept them aside to re-plant them again into the same pot. I added more soil to the pot, add in some fertilizers and mixed them up together. Then I planted the smaller rhizomes back into the pot.

These are my ginger harvested from my garden. This time the rhizomes are smaller, probably I was feeding the plants with enough of fertilizer.

It was quite a good harvest, enough to last us for some time.
