My friends invited me to join them on a foodie breakfast trip to Gopeng. They happened to see an article in magazine showing a Hainanese coffee shop in New Kopisan or Kopisan Baru in Gopeng. Even though we visited Gopeng quite regularly, this coffee shop doesn't sound familiar to me. I was surprised to find out that this coffee shop is in the same location as the place we used to go for our Lai Fun noodles.
So this is the coffee shop that I didn't know existed, even though I have passed this way many times.
Kheng Bee Hainanese Coffee Shop (Kedai Kopi Gemuk)
S-45, Jalan Pasar, Kopisan Baru, Gopeng. Tel: 05-3591530
The place has been given a new face lift.
Very clean and comfortable place to enjoy a meal.
Menu on the wall.
Claypot noodle, glutinous rice with coconut jam, macaroni, etc.
There is Prawn mee, half boiled egg on toast, etc.
Toast bread, fried noodle, homemade nasi lemak, steam bun, etc.
A small portion. We love this and ordered another plate!
Steamed glutinous rice with coconut milk and egg jam (kaya).
The kaya is their signature homemade kaya, handed down from their ancestors.
A plate of homemade nasi lemak. I love the spicy sauce (sambal).
Toast with their homemade kaya & a small bowl of porridge.
Our breakfast for 3 people to share.
1 glass of Gemuk coffee & 2 glasses of unsweetened soy bean milk.
We added a plate of plain fried rice vermicelli, served with a fried egg & some sambal.
We also ordered this bowl of noodle in soup (yee mee).
We found out that this place serves pork-free food.
If you are interested, there are pre-packed coffee powder for sale.
Kheng Bee Kedai Gemuk Kopisan - White coffee.
My friend commented that this tastes better than Ipoh coffee.
I have yet to try this coffee, hopefully on our next trip.
After a nice breakfast in Gopeng, we took a ride around town before going home.
Stopped to snap this picture of a lotus flower and seed pod.
Lotus seed pod. Lotus seed could be eaten raw when tender. The dried seeds are used to boiled as sweet drink or made into paste as filling for varieties of buns and cake.

And now this word to all of you:
You should be like one big happy family,
full of sympathy toward each other,
loving one another with tender hearts and humble minds.
