Coconut Jam (Kaya) & Teochew Porridge

Yesterday was 36th day MCO. Will the MCO be extended again? We will have to wait and see.
Sunrise at 7:06 am.
Sunrise at 7:14 am
Can you see the 2 birds on the left side?
The birds are also practising social distancing.
I managed to buy some coconut milk (santan) to make some coconut jam (kaya). I reduced the sugar to half the amount. This time it was not as thick as expected
but the sweetness is just nice for us. The texture is smooth. What you see on the "kaya" is actually air bubble.

Dinner - Teochew Porridge
Stewed pork belly with preserved veggie (mui choy).
Blanched "Tong ho" veggie
"Tong ho" or garland chrysanthemum drizzled with garlic oil and soy sauce. I love this veggie but hubby doesn't eat because of its strong herbal smell.
So I opened a small can of pickled Chinese mustard green for hubby.
Teochew porridge for 2
I added oat to my porridge.
Dwarf Mexican Petunia drenched with rain droplets after the early morning shower.

You take care of the earth and water it,
making it rich and fertile.
The river of God has plenty of water;
it provides a bountiful harvest of grain,
for you have ordered it so.
You drench the plowed ground with rain,
melting the clods and leveling the ridges.
You soften the earth with showers
and bless its abundant crops.
(Psalm 65:9-10, New Living Translation-NLT)

  11. I love to eat "Tong ho" or garland chrysanthemum because of its taste. You are a super woman in the kitchen because you can make kaya, own char siew, bak kwa and so many delicious dishes. Did you cook stewed pork belly from raw pork belly bought from the butcher at wet market?

    1. Thank you, Mun. Yes, I buy raw pork belly from the pork shop in our area. I avoid going to the wet market because the queue there is long.

  20. Näyttää herkulliselta! En ole koskaan maistanut kookoshilloa. Tykkään kookoksen mausta, joten hillo olisi varmasti hyvää.

The canned chinese pickled mustard green interests me. I've not noticed the existence of this product, must keep a lookout for it. Is it displayed together with canned pickled lettuce and braised peanuts?
